I am so sorry. the same thing happened to my 6 year old husky last year on the 4th of july. She would constantly break out of my fence (she was so nervous and scared of everything we rescued her and we had a time with her.) i know dogs have had them all my life, rotts have been my breed for it too. First we had kennels for her she would CHEW her way out of it, all she needed was enough space to fit her head through and she got the rest through, so we went to a 8ft privacy fence she started breaking the bottom part of the door, so we got another fence inside of that one as a dog area she broke out of that one and then broke out of the other fence, well on the 4th of july it was the last time she broke out she got hit and killed, the humane society got her before we did and i never saw her body again. They need a job and lots of it to be totally happy dogs. We will never have one again b/c we are just too busy for the breed with other 2 kids, hubby being a cop and working crazy shifts and so on, if your lifestyle is a relaxed one you should go with a more relaxed breed next time. I have a basset hound and they are just like husky's their own breed so he takes a lot of work but his drive is very low so he is not high energy just pushy and head strong.
