HVAC air duct cleaning

Anyone know of someone that cleans airducts? We called someone from the Pennysaver - you know, one of those $79.99 all vents cleaned deals. Well, that just turned into a bait and switch scam and I sent the guy packing. Now I still need my air ducts cleaned and really don't care to entertain someone that has no clue.

I used Duraclean back when we did it, I can't remember their number, but they were excellent in our house, very informative, they cleaned up any and all mess they made or the machine made (which was VERY little), they even put up with the Rotti running around the house...They were recommended to me through a guy I know at Tri County Aire, and I'll recommend them :yay:

We used Servpro when I first bought this house. It had 30 yrs. of dust and dirt in the vents! :faint: I think it was around 500.00 then. God knows what it will be now! But give them a call too and compare prices. Good Luck! :howdy:

I used to work for a company called "EnviroAir" that cleaned air ducts. One of the guys I worked with would steal change from people, another guy I worked with would steal medicine....good times, especially when my paycheck would bounce.

So this coupon I found for $75, no vent limit, would be a deal?

Anyone have it done by someone that is local and for what price? TIA :patriot:

Which company is it, back when I asked about this a few years back, it seems everyone used either Duraclean or Servpro, and no one had any complaints....

I'd start there with them two...

I'm not paying $500. I'll get an estimate from Servpro. I have only 5 vents.

We used Bell Air recently, one of the $99 deals. The head guy kept trying to convince me all the ducts in the house were filled with mold and needed a $300+ treatment that he could do RIGHT THEN (like I'd trust something as serious as mold to a duct cleaner - and we'd had the house tested last year for mold and it came up clean as a whistle), then was pushing me to get Scotchguard put on the carpets when they were cleaning them for another $100+ (no thanks, we have pets).

The guy he brought with him did most of the work, and I felt like that made it worth it - they actually did clean the ducts, carpet, and dryer vent for the price they'd quoted - but the whole hard-sell thing turned me off on using them in the future. :coffee:

Servpro did mine yesterday but it was part of the chimney fire clean up so I don't know the cost. They did a great job though. The company my husband used to work for did it. Your Aire 240-832-2577. His new hvac company doesn't clean ducts.

Olympic Air Services installed a whole new system for us last spring. And part of that installation came with them cleaning our ducts out. They are in White Plains (near laplata) but they service all of SOMD.

After they removed the old blower in our attic, they brought this machine in that looked like another ac/heater blower, and hooked it up to the "main" trunk where the blower usually sits. OMFG the amount of dirt/dust that came out of our vents was sooooo nasty (old house only had one system in it ever heh) They do good work and are very friendly, give em a call for a estimate. GL

Resurrecting this thread....I've been in my townhouse for 10 years. I am starting to sneeze my fool head off (even with allergy meds). Thinking of getting my ducts cleaned for starters. Are the recommendations here still valid?

Also, when you say "vents", are you talking about the big things on the walls that shouldn't be obstructed by doors (I think they are called return vents), not the registers on the floor/ceiling? Do you pay by the "vent"?

I'm in Chesapeake Beach BTW. Thanks.

Do Not Call These People For Duct Cleaning!!

June 2011
REVIEW OF ENVIROCAIR AIR DUCT & CARPET CLEANING EnviroCair | 1-866-806-4224 | Air Duct Cleaning | Carpet Cleaning | Virginia | DC | Maryland

Called for a "Duct Cleaning Special" in the newspaper for $59 PLUS FREE 3-room carpet cleaning.

Two men showed up (on time) in an unmarked van. Instead of the state-of-the-art, truck mounted equipment mentioned in the website, they pulled a large shop-vac type machine onto the porch. Long hoses were brought into the house & a drill with a long cable & brushes on the end. After showing them where all the vents were located, the two men went to "work."

Immediately, the one worker started trying to up-sale additional items. (Did he really find mold downstairs?????) When the vacuum hose was laying near my feet, I put my hand across the end & there was barely any suction. The shop-vac in my garage has MUCH more power then what they used. The drill with the long cable & brushes was never plugged in.

Next, the FREE carpet cleaning. Worker said the carpet needed pre-treated & deep-cleaning because it was "so dirty & wouldn't come clean without the extra treatments." (Wow -Stanley Steemer was here just before Christmas & the carpet does not seem "so dirty") But, to prevent an arguement over growing pressure for pre-treatment, I just said to forget the carpet cleaning.

Lastly, I got my check book to pay as I have done with many companies that have performed home servces for us. The worker said they only accepted cash or credit cards. (Nevermind that the bottom of THEIR invoice has boxes for cash, check, Visa, etc). I mentioned I was never told cash or credit card only & was only prepared to pay with a check. (their attitude, from the beginning, kept me from using my credit card) I said I wanted to talk to someone in the office about this & called the 888-548-4240 on the top of the invoice he gave me. SURPRISE!!! It's a non-working phone number!!! I called the phone number from the newspaper ad 301-637-7167 & spoke to the woman that answered the phone. She immediatley got upset & demanded cash or credit card or she was going to call the police. Right after that, the worker used his cell to call someone. The discussion was very heated on his end but I could not understand what he was saying as I only speak English!! Finally, I said "if I had been told cash or credit card - I would have stopped by the ATM." I pulled out my wallet to show him I did not have $59 - I counted it out & had only $49. He said fine - he would take that because HE "didn't like the baby games I was playing!" He scratched out all the notes he had written on the invoice & dropped it on the table before leaving.

Fair warning - DO NOT DEAL WITH ENVIROCAIR. I should have heeded Chris Hansen's warning on the Dateline tv show about the duct cleaning scams. $49 LESSON LEARNED ;-)
