How has your life changed now that you have kids?

I've been thinking about this all day. We were over at friends yesterday who had seen the new Batman movie and were raving about it. Since having kids we never go to the theater just wait for DVD. A movie with babysitter can run almost $100.00 after dinner. But being home with the kiddo's beats any movie.:huggy:

Not having the time to myself anymore, but that's okay. I will have my "me time" when the kids are in school full time.

The majority of the remote controls in the house have the battery covers taped on or tape holding the batteries in because they have lost or broken them..

WDF. So worth the wait.
Easier to answer how my life hasn't changed. lol I'm actually having a hard time figuring out how it hasn't. Was gonna say I still get the mail but, not true. The kids do that now.

We haven't been the the movies in almost 3 years and I don't miss them a bit. We said a temporary goodbye to a lot of things, golf, scuba, and foriegn travel just to name a few. We now do different things though, we go to the zoo, the park, the nearby shore. It's better in many ways, hubby and I don't have our isolating hobbies anymore, we do things as a family now and it's made our marriage stronger. Now we have no time for ourselves but that also translates out to no time for angsty navel-gazing. It's full steam ahead on the happy busy two toddler train. Now we have ponies and a new Australian Shepherd puppy too! One thing that has definately changed with kids is now I never get enough sleep

Everyone needs sanity time. Everyone needs to get away from the kiddos occasionally. Some movies are way better on the big screen.

I say "ok, that's enough" a lot more now than I did before kid. Definetly more falling down drunkedness before I had him, I guess thats a good thing now.

I appreciate more with him. I love teaching him new things and I have a huge sense of pride when he displays his knowledge. I just got off the phone with my mom, she told me he says lots of please and thank yous, I was all smiles!

I thought I had just regained my dignity when the other day I was in the bathroom and the door flies wide open, "Mom, can you look up something on the computer for me?". So my privacy is still gone.... for now.

I totally feel you on the bathroom privacy thing. I rarely get to use the bathroom alone. If I lock the door my middle one lays on the floor and talks to me through the bottom of it.

Having kids has made me appreciate the small things in life soooooo much more.

I know how you feel! I wanted some private "me" time in the bathtub for a good long soak with a new paperback. Both kids were wailing away at the bathroom door the entire time, hubby kept hauling them off but they kept coming back and sobbing pitifully. So much for a relaxing soak :ohwell:

Usually even when I go in to take a fast pee I've got two kids and two yowling cats trailing after me like I'm the Pied Piper of Hamelin or something

Interesting. I was able to take a bath after the kids are in bed to relax with a book to read.

Also, I can't hear the kids. However, I can see my kids stick thier toes or hands under the door. The oldest slipped a car/paper/whatever under the door.:killingme

:yeahthat: :roflmao: but I've got three little ones and I stay at home with them, so this is day in - day out.

The last movie I saw in the theatre was Austin Powers : Goldmember - I was about 8 months pregnant with our first, who is now over 5 years old.

I've never enjoyed movies b/c I hardly watch TV. I'd rather read or do a crossword when I lay down at night.

Otherwise - My life has been flipped upside down since having my guys/gal and I seriously don't know what I would do without them pestering me, talking non stop, arguing, laughing, playing and at my feet all day...

My only babysitter moved north 4 months ago... So we don't get any alone time without the kids really... We did just get back from THE best vacation to OBX that I've ever had, the kids had a ball and I am so thankful.

 Love the responses. I'm on the other end of the spectrum... The kids are grown and aren't around much anymore. Though they haven't moved out yet, they basically come home to sleep, do laundry, and eat every now and then. It's just as different getting used to them being gone as it is when you start your family.

Right now, I am wearing a lampshade  b/c my 2 1/2 year-old says it's my turn, does that answer your question!?! Oh, and I have :nomoney: It's pure bliss, all of it, even when it's ! :yahoo:

:yeahthat: We ended up buying motorcycles, quit doing the boat thing. We're a lot more relaxed now. We take naps on weekends, see friends (well, when we get out). We watch a lot of movies. We go to bed earlier. We're old. Kids keep you young, but the other side is you finally get to relax and, really, it becomes all about the two of you. I kind of like it.

I think my children have taught me that a little laughing can cure everything and when they tell that your there best firend you melt. I have to say that it has also given me understanding how someone can be pushed to the edge if they are not careful. I have 4 children that are 4,3, and 8 months old(the older 2 are twins) and no two days are ever alike. I think besides not going on dates and stuff, I think I can tell you where every Mcdonalds and Rest stop is along the east coast. Oh the big one, I no longer have the cute fun car, I have a car that will fit 4 carseats, the DVD player and a bag full of fruit snacks, cheerios and Juice.:yahoo:
