Hype Over Fentanyl Exposure Overdoses

Don't Let Police, Media Mislead You About Fentanyl Exposure Overdoses

Another officer claims to have been laid out just by being close to the drug. That’s not how it works.

The Tavares Police Department is very clear that it's releasing the body camera footage for the purpose of scaring people about fentanyl.

"Officer Bannick really wants others to take away that this drug is dangerous," Tavares Detective Courtney Sullivan told WESH. "It's dangerous for not only yourself but others around you. Something as simple as the wind could expose you and just like that, your life could end."

This just isn't true. Add it to the pile of many, many examples of police attempting to convince the public that any possible exposure to fentanyl may be deadly. It does not simply pass through the skin when you touch it. As for the claim that the officer might have inhaled it, a study from the American College of Medical Toxicology and American Academy of Clinical Toxicology calculated that a person would have to stand next to a massive amount of fentanyl for two and a half hours to feel its effects.

In other words, based on what we know about fentanyl exposure, it is extremely unlikely that what we saw was Bannick overdosing from inhaling fentanyl in a gust of wind.

Obviously something happened—possibly a panic attack brought on by all the insistence that any exposure to fentanyl is potentially deadly. FOX 35 did revisit the story Wednesday with a vague "some say" approach, taking note that there is an "ongoing debate between law enforcement and some in the medical community who say it's nearly impossible to overdose on fentanyl at crime scenes." This is not a "debate." Police keep making claims that medical experts overwhelmingly say are not true.

Here goes Reason again... "Nah, that chit won't hurt ya. Perfectly safe. They're just trying to scare you."

****ing Libertarians.

Anyway, that's fine with me. The more dumbass druggies who OD, the more resources for me.

I don't know how much will kill you, but I do know it will get the job done. Too many have died from it no to know that. I suppose like any other illegal drug it is cut many times before it is sold.
It appears from the way the border is run that it is just one other thing besides illegals that Biden and the democrats want to be in this country. Certainly they are doing nothing to stop it. The democrats are working hard to steal our 2nd. Amendment rights but they are doing nothing to stop the drug from coming over the border. Fentanyl is killing many more people than guns but it doesn't seem to bother them.

When hubby was air lifted to Wash Hosp recently, they gave him fentanyl for pain, before the flight and half way thru.

They were very concerned with explaining to us why it was necessary. Hey, you think it's required, give it to him. If it didn't come off the street, I am sure it's fine for use.

Of course, earlier in the ER visit, they were giving him something for pain. He told them they needed to find a better dealer, because those drugs were no good.

🙄

Thank goodness they all just laughed at him.

Like I posted a while back, I had a stent placed in a coronary artery close to two years ago.

After the procedure I remarked how little pain I had experienced. The nurse said, "Oh, you were given fentanyl".

I would bet the majority of posters on here who have any type of surgery recently have had fentanyl; just not illegal Chinese crap administered by a junkie in an alley.

I'm old enough to remember when the po-po, the press, and everybody tried to say that just one, single hit of crack cocaine was enough to IMMEDIATELY GET YOU HOOKED ON IT FOR LIFE! And beyond. There was even a story in the NY Slime, some decades ago, when an under-cover cop supposedly injected a single dose to prove he wasn't a cop, or some such, and HE GOT HOOKED FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE!

There's a genetic element to addiction that's like playing Russian Roulette.

There are quite a few cops that become drug addicts for various reasons.

Amazing that overdoses don't get the same attention as other matters such as domestic terrorists or out of control PTA moms. A lot of my contemporaries have children that have died from overdoses. Yet does anyone know of anyone affected by domestic terrorists? That's 1 of the myriad of issues with this administration. Instead of taking action on issues that will actually improve the lives of Americans, they pose and pander to the identity politics crowd. The wide open border is 1 of the reason so much fentanyl is on the streets. Their policies are making it worse.

Fixing the opioid crisis was jew boy Jared Kushner’s job.

Did you forget that?
