Preliminary figures suggest that the 2021 death toll from overdoses may be even higher.

While overdose death rates have increased in every major demographic group in recent years, no group has seen a bigger increase than Black men. As a result, Black men have overtaken White men and are now on par with American Indian or Alaska Native men as the demographic groups most likely to die from overdoses.

When hubby was air lifted to Wash Hosp recently, they gave him fentanyl for pain, before the flight and half way thru.

They were very concerned with explaining to us why it was necessary. Hey, you think it's required, give it to him. If it didn't come off the street, I am sure it's fine for use.

Of course, earlier in the ER visit, they were giving him something for pain. He told them they needed to find a better dealer, because those drugs were no good.



Thank goodness they all just laughed at him.

It's a very powerful pain killer - it does a wonderful job of blocking the receptors.
Given intravenously it's a small, controlled amount of fentanyl suspended in a large amount of saline.
The problem with the way it's distributed on the street is that it's in a powdered form which can be absorbed through the skin.
since it block neural rectors too much will simply not only block pain, but the ability to breath, which then leads to the heart stopping because it lacks oxygen.
