Hyperactive Mouse...

For some reason, my mouse has gone nuts on me.

When I read a thread, I usually hit the Back button to go back to where I started, but now it takes me back two and sometimes three clicks. Why is this?

That has happened to me before. Something went flaky with the drivers, but once I reinstalled the drivers the mouse was fine.

Do you have a wireless mouse? I do and that is normally a sign that your batteries are going dead.

You can also change the sensitivity in the control panel.

MainMan, SchmainMan.... (me love you long time MM ). We don't need no stinkin' man.

Do you run Antivirus and Spyware software regularly? What type of mouse is it? Is it optical? Wireless? Trackball? We have a wireless optical mouse that sometimes goes flaky when it loses signal strength or the battery gets ready to take a crap. If it's optical it may also be the mouse pad you are using. If its not optical it maybe a dirty trackball. Try reinstalling your mouse drivers. Or depending on a number of factors you may need to replace your mouse?

I run AdAware once a week and have done so since this started, along with rebooting. It is a plugged in mouse, not wireless, but it isn't the kind I can open and clean the ball. I don't know how to reinstall the drivers.

And Jazzy... :biteme: :lmao:

Mice cost all of what $5?? Buy a new one see if tht fixes the problem... cleaning the mouse balls wouldn't have any effect, I would think it's the microswitch inside the mouse IF it's hardware. Re-installing the drivers/ `software might do the trick.

If it's USB, try unplugging it from the back of the computer and let it set for 5 seconds or so, then plug it back in..
