Mice cost all of what $5?? Buy a new one see if tht fixes the problem... cleaning the mouse balls wouldn't have any effect, I would think it's the microswitch inside the mouse IF it's hardware. Re-installing the drivers/ `software might do the trick.

If it's USB, try unplugging it from the back of the computer and let it set for 5 seconds or so, then plug it back in..

Cleaning the mouse balls probably won't help but the mouse will love you for it!!! :lmao:

If you are running XP you can right click on My Computer (on your desktop), Select Properties, Select the Hardware Tab, Device Manager, Mice and other pointing devices, Right click on your mouse and select properties, it will tell you if your device is working properely or not, it will also allow you to troubleshoot if you are experiencing issue that your OS recognizes, this is also the same place you can update your drivers at.

Just like Angel said. You can go to "my computer" settings or if you mouse came with additional configuration software, check that out. In any case, it sounds like it is one of your configurable settings. Much like how you can allocate your mouse buttons to do certain actions other than the normal settings. Such as the scroller can scroll 3 lines at a time or whatever I set it as.

I have the same problem. I click once and it takes me back two times. I click once and it will open a folder.
I think that could be a setting in your folder options.

]Control Panel
