Ok I disagree with the statement that the media is some of our most well informed citizens.

The big names in media get to be who they are because either they are very attractive, very smooth talking, or on occasion a good reporter. Generally the good reporters are pushed behind the scenes because they are not attractive enough etc.

Our educators being the most educated I also tend to disagree with that, to a point. Its funny that the educators in fields that are considered for the "smart people" are usually much more conservative (medicine, law, engineering, etc). But there is a mixture in these fields.

Now when I took my liberal arts requirements in college most of the professors were very liberal but let me ask you what the hell kind of job does someone with a sociology degree get other than teaching it?

Your definitions are flawed in my opinion, most of the so called liberals that I have met have been the most closed minded hypocritical people that I have ever met, really no different than the "religious right" or what ever the hell you want to call people like Jerry Falwell.

Its liberals and religious conservatives that keep me out of either major political party, they are one in the same just different issues.

Well Heretic, we may actually agree on something for once.

There are certainly radical liberals who "toe the party line" no matter what. I figure that the radicals on both sides cancel each other out, and it's us who think independently who actually advance the culture, if I may be so bold.

The definitions came from dictionary.com.

I'm not going to argue who "the liberal media" is, because I'm just repeating a consistent conservative stereotype. But I will say that if you consider 'the media" the talking heads on TV, who give us our information in 30 second sound bites, you're already screwed. This of course is the very thing I am fighting against. We have to THINK, we have to participate, we have to care, for democracy to work. We may disagree, but if we disagree after considering the subject, more power to ya'. There are plenty of smart conservatives. (But Ann Coulter is not one of them.)

BTW, I like the Dykes on Bikes bit. heehee! :dude:

Yeah, Vrai, but...

that's pretty lame, highlighting an "OBSOLETE" definition of liberal. Step it up, will ya'?

I just got done watching a local news show (Baltimore-DC channel) and it was quite good actually. There were no opinions thrown in, they didnt have all the fancy stuff that the networks have but they did just what I expected they told me what is going on.

The larger media outlets manipulate and sensationalize stories to increase ratings. The most specific example I can think of is the Rodney King video, what most channels fail to show is the first minute or so of the video of King attacking officiers. Im not saying what the officiers did was right but I am saying the media manipulated its viewers by only showing part of the story because it was a better story taht way.

So forgive me if I don't believe the media is what it should be.

Oui, Monsieur !

Probably the only reason it's obsolete is because the libs tweaked the dictionary for hate-speech like they're trying to do everything else.

Media people are the best informed of all of us? Yeah, ask them about their desires to interview the latest entry to Women's tennis bio'd in SI.

Teachers are the best educated? I guess you'll be looking up a high school Health teacher to perform your next surgical operation. What foolishness.

I think that Tommy Lee Jones (a Liberal) said it best in "Men In Black" when he said "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it." I think that applies to all types of people.

Sorry, Maynard. This is NOT the worst thread we've ever had on here by any stretch. Those scamps over in the Meet & Greet and Dating have had MUCH worse threads than this.
:lmao:

We had a 50-some-odd pager about the so-called Anti-Discrimination act that our illiustrious Governor, King Parris, handed down to us. Talk about ugly! Yikes!

That's true, Vrai...that crap gets way ridiculous...

Oh and Krebs, that wasn't a slight at you. First of all, any excuse to quote simpsons, I'll put you on notice right now, I will take.

Secondly, it just stems from my DEEP hatred of mudslinging using "clever" little barbs at the other side that come accross more as children taunting eachother in dodge ball, than it does adults engaged in real dialouge...

I think they are "clever little barbs" when they are misapplied to try and point out something derrogatory about the other person, yes I do.
