Doug for five years I have been paying my Child Support (No complaint) but I have lost out on the raising of my kids. My Ex is doing a lot better than me finacially but I can not bring myself to ask for my child support payments to be lowered because I feel like I would be letting them domn. I feel what you are going through... I have job ops in California (the state) and Florida but I will be dammed I will move away from my kids... I wish you all the best and if there is anything I can help with please let me know...

I don't think there's any shame in asking to get your payments reduced. Having those payments chopped would almost ensure that they get used in the manner that they are supposed to be used.

You don't necessarily need an attorney to file for a modification of child support. The Circuit Courts have forms available both in the courts and online. You can file pro se and it's a relatively easy process. If you want some pointers, let me know.
The appellate court will hear your case in their "term" which means it could be this spring or it may get pushed to the next term depending on whether your case presents compelling enough arguments to be heard right away.
The master (which will hear modification requests, not a judge in most cases) will take into account your previous earning capacity but may make adjustments based on location, etc. They will also consider other factors such as your ex-wife's ability to earn a living and will assess her an annual salary even if she isn't working (in other words, if she is voluntarily impoverishing herself by not working and trying to live off the child support each month).
Don't give up hope - there are options. Again, if you want some help, let me know...
