I am SO ticked......

Worked hard all day, came home, just wanted to read my email and see what was happening on SoMD. Booted, opened my email, downloaded my new messages, was in the middle of reading one when ...

BSOD.

Crap. Completely hosed the directory tree for the default user (mine). Ran CHKDSK and now all the data is recoverable, but I'm just going to back up the data and wipe/reinstall. I don't mind rebuilding, but it just takes so long to get it back to the way I like it. A project for tomorrow. Right now, the corporate laptop works fine.

Seriously I hate when that happens, it totally sucks, and you know just fixing it is only delaying the inevitable. I feel for ya man! :poorbaby:

Rebuilding my stepson's POS right now. Underpowered for Vista and he totally hosed it. I think he knows just enough to get into trouble but not enough to get himself out of it.

Restore disks from HP take forever on this thing.

I have no clue. Didn't change a thing for weeks. I did get some patches mid-week, but ...

well it would not be the 1st time a patch changed something ..... and threw off the delicate balance ...

Ctrl, Alt, Delete, pull down tab shutdown, restart!

:ohwell:

Well, I put it off until this afternoon. Just finished recovering all my data and just started the wipe/reload. That won't take long, but then comes the long process of reloading all the updates and programs.

Although, I did this for someone recently, and instead of loading a million patches via Microsoft Update Manager, it just loaded SP3. Saved a bit of time.

Once you get a gift for something you become the rescuer of all pc-kind. :flowers:

Shoot... been rescuing for a long time. If not my dad, my friends. If not my friends, me. If not me, the hundreds of customers I have at work. Never ends.

Well, it's all back together and running fine.

Anybody want to rebuild my Dell XP laptop? I haven't been able to use it for 4 years now because it have BSOD and we couldn't do anything to get it boot back up and running again. Hubby probably killed my laptop with too many computer games installed. Now, he have his own laptop, which I'm using right now to check my emails and the SOMD forum.

Now, my desktop computer's cooling fan is fried. I don't even know how to replace the cooling fan. It only have two screws and I was able to take it out to clean it.

If you took it out you should be able to put the new one in. Grab a new one at tigerdirect.com and slap her in.

on the laptop, if you have the install disc that came with it, backup any valuable files, pictures, etc then format the drive and reinstall the OS.

if you need better instructions LMK
