They were looking for a Ms. Wheelchair America....not a "I can stand when I want to and only use a wheelchair when I feel like it" Ms. America.....Railroad said:As you say, that's incredible. This BS of being afraid to offend anybody is going to such extremes!!! I guess I'd forgotten about the Ms. Wheelchair contest. For crying out loud, the young lady had the courage and spirit of camraderie to force herself into a standing position for the picture! She should be lauded, not penalized, for her action.

But pageant officials are standing by their ruling that in public, the winner must mostly be seen in a wheelchair or a scooter. Otherwise, says an official with Ms. Wheelchair America, you risk offending women who can't stand or walk.
If she was doing that, I can understand why they didn't want her to be Ms. WheelchairLenny said:No, that's not quite it. The pagent belatedly decided they didn't want their winner standing in public. It's OK to stand in the bathroom stall but not in the hallway outside the door.
