I did not know this.

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day. He and his wife went to the Lowe's in Bowie for a few things. He is very sick and stayed in the car while his wife went in. He was in one of the "alternatively health ability" spaces and had a clear view of the entrance and sidewalk. A car pulled up in the fire lane with two urban-esque, proud, non-birthers of color. One, a proud non-birther got out with some sort of manual labor cutting device and cut the cable from the lawn tractors and barbeque equipment! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? THATS VANDALISM WITH BAD IMPLICATIONS!!! Well the car sped off...

The store employees were notified and said, "we know". Apparently the cord had a fiber optic thread or something inside, to alert the cut. Of course, no action will be taken.

Wait, you mean Maryland doesn't have a "you can steal up to this amount without prosecution" deal?

How backward.

They probably figured that it wouldn't get repaired right away, and they, or others, would come back later or after hours.

What makes you think no action will be taken? You know someone in the Bowie PD or Bowie Lowes?

per another Lowes employee I know, they are prohibited from calling the police unless the manager can and will override that protocol. anything else? why not ask why employees wont and cant stop people from taking off with carts of lumber at you local Home Depot. You know we dont want to offend our friends from the other Countries.

Guess I wasn't aware that this was happening in our LOCAL stores. Sure California and Washington state have decided not to pursue but I wasn't aware that was the case here.

If so, maybe I need to make a trip to Lowes. I could use a new BBQ.

I saw 2 men walk out of the Lowes in Waldorf one day (contractor side) when I had the clerk engaged and she said to me " hold on let me put in this alert" so she could have the camera footage noted to where the suspects would be on it. OMG you just walk out and no one does anything?

The cost of theft is built in to the price you pay for items, whether directly or in the cost of the insurance. Pursuing litigation costs more than the items being stolen.

In a just society, a bullet in the perp would be a fair compensation.
They could put 1 of those tip like jars on the counter to offset the cost of ammo. Or do the round up your bill, with the balance going towards bullets.

And, IF, they are ever identified and processed, some liberal judge will slap them on the wrist.
