I fell in love today

@ Pepper's. Really did fall in love to a dog that I met for only a couple of hours.

Some one please adopt Polly !
I have not been exposed to Pits much but this little lady was absolutely one of the nicest dogs I've been around. My 13 year old daughter had no problem walking her or just sitting there with Polly snuggling in her lap.
She talked about her the entire way home and could not wait to show her brothers her picture with a pitbull. If my situation were different I would happily have taken her home.

There were some wonderful dogs up for adoption today at Pepper's. All deserve good forever homes. If you missed visiting you have to come down next time. Don't miss it.

Although I didn't catch everyone's screen names today, it was pleasure to meet forum folks. It was also great to meet so many people doing something so great for these dogs.

I look forward to seeing you all again. Next time you might talk me into the dog suit.

Right on! Polly is an awesome dog, such a sweetheart! I hope she finds her loving, permanent home soon...although I will miss her when she does.
Nice to meet you and your daughter, thanks for helping out!

:yeahthat:

I absolutely adore Polly, she is a great Ambassador for the Pit bulls. Like I said, she had never met the other dogs actually face-to-face until Sunday and as was obvious there wasn't any issue with her.

Until she does finally find her forever home, we will use her every chance we get to prove how wonderful these dogs are.

When I get the pictures downloaded I will post them.

AND the dogs LOVE their new toys! Thank you so much!

I'll only wear the SPOT suit if I get to chase my tail around.
Hey - like I explained before, already did a pink gorrilla, can't imagine a dog suit could be worse. :lmao:
The wife loved the Corgi themed memoriablia.

yeah, you really haven't lived until you pull a corgi or other small animal from the jaws of a pit. they are just so sweet and predictable. bwhahahaha

Are you speaking from experience?

I absolutely trust every pit I have fostered in my home more than any lab or chesapeake bay retriever that I've had. They have also had far less issues.

absolutely.

i have pulled other peoples animals from pits on 2 occasions and pulled my dog away from one once. I have witnessed 2 cats killed by 2 different pits, both of whom the owners swore were great with other animals. I have also fostered a pit (well an american staffordshire) so i am no dog novice.

seriously, there is nothing more exciting that reaching into the mouth of a pit to pull a nice peaceful animal to saftey.

not trying to bad mouth a breed, but all this "pits are the best" stuff is a little niave. especially pits that have unknown pasts, like those that end up in shelters

Almost any breed can and will kill a cat, especially an outside cat. It's a naive owner of any breed to think thier dog will get along with every animal. If the dogs were under the owner's command that should never have happened.

That's exactly what it sounds like you are doing. Not ALL pits are bad. I have quite a few at my house and yes a number of them were pulled from the shelter. They have lived with me in my house and we have played together and I have disciplined them, I will push these dogs to try to find a breaking point, if they have one they are not adoptable. But, from living with them I know what type of owner they will need, and not everyone is suitable to own a pit.

I am truly sorry for what you have experienced and for whomever else was there along with the owners of the other animals. But I will continue to pull pits from the shelter - nothing should be sentenced to death just for being born.

We have a pit mix with us now, she was taken from a fight home when she was just a pup. And I swear to you that poor dog is scared of EVERYTHING! From oven mit's to a balloon

not all are bad, but when they do eff up they cause a lot more damage than a lab, corgi or a poodle. It is niave to think that you can be in complete control of a dog and predict what it will do, especially a pit....

so all dogs will kill a cat.... interesting, i'll remember thats your outlook.

the animals i have pulled from pits included a 100 pound german shepard and my 65 pound lab mix, neither of which did anything other than walk past the pit to get chomped. BTW, at the time they were both on leads being handled by their owners who then apologized profusly and claimed it had NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.

like i said, i am not condeming a breed, jut relaying my experiences and feeling that many people are blind to the potential and think that an owner has complete control. the fact of the matter is that some dogs are vicious, and some breeds tend to be more so then not.

yeah, that sounds like a stable animal that will never bite :lmao:

scared-agressive dogs bite people often.

If she was going too, I would figure she would have done that when I chased her around the house. Or when the stranger walked in with the balloons.

But since she didn't I am not going to stress over it

and hopefully you wont have to stress over it when she bites somebody's kid or kills their poodle........ hopefully.

Oh I hate poodles so that's ok.

It's all in how the own brings up the dog, not the dog itself. yes they are known for being a bad breed, now.
Just like rots and d.pinchers....and so on

that is a very common misconception,
I know plenty of people with "he was the best dog ever until...." stories.

they usually end with the family pet getting put down b/c it attacked its owner, their kid, or some unrelated individual.

I have NEVER heard anyone say "yeah, i knew my dog was vicious and i in fact trained it to try to eat the neighbors kid/dog/cat"

Expect for people that own junk yards, and want their pets to do that.
