I thought this thread said "I've found my Tarzan." I was like, well great! :jet:

Significantly better - thanks for asking  I'm just hoping this is it and it's not the lull before the storm, like Catt said.

I hope so, too.

Maybe not. :ohwell:

The more I read...

this particular tartan is too modern. Looks like my tartan would actually be a solid color, and was called a saffron tartan. Some argument amount that, as the color looks to be more of a mustard than saffron.

which brings up the question, what does a Scotsman wear under his Kilt?

I thought when they refered to "modern" or "old" it had to do mainly with the colors ie. old were faded subdued colors vs. modern, dyes being brighter and more accurate?

Well, there's that too. However, it seems that would only apply to the Scots.

Our clan has the two different plaids as well. The early one is lighter and more muted. I'm told by the local clan rep that the family uses the old tartan for hunting and such, and the new one for special occasions or business. I also found out that although I'm most likely of Welsh lineage, that still makes me a member of that particular Scottish clan (either by marriage or by alliances in fighting against the British).

I didn't think I had one, either. I've looked for years, stumbling over it today was just weird.

My husbands family has a coat of arms.
