I have a serious problem with this:

Keep Calm and Don't Care!
The guy with the best average finish and the most points finishes third in points and the 2nd place drive in points gets a championship as a direct result of a seriously flawed points system three times now.

Correction: NASCAR now saying second.

Meanwhile a guy fails pre-race inspection twice, isn't penalized when every other driver is penalized for the same thing, and gets the championship from a welfare points system.

NASCAR is bull#### and I'll be watching ARCA and baseball next year. Go ORIOLES! :yahoo:

... and yet you don't have a problem with the fact that the National Association of Stock Car Racing doesn't race stock cars

I don't. I'd rather them race those cars than see safety crews scraping bodies off the racetrack like I grew up watching in the 1990s in NASCAR and ARCA.

The Chase format has sucked since day one for too many reasons to list here. But there's one guy who loves it for sure and it ain't Denny Hamlin or Kevin Harvick.

NASCAR will put itself out of business in the next couple years anyway.

I honestly don't think so. But I do think they will revisit some of thier wacky ideas and go back to what worked. They also need some one that the regular guy can identify with who can win races.

You are just now figuring this out?! I gave up on NASCAR three Made-For-Jimmy-Johnson-championship-seasons ago. Safety features aside, the COT and "The Chase" both suck and so do most of the "personalities". It's all too manufactured and boring to watch. I still pay attention to what Tony's doing but that's about it.

It's become a reality TV series, the Kardashians with generic race cars

I did my part; had season tickets for 3 different tracks twice a year and gave it up because it wasn't fun anymore and became too expensive. Figure some other redneck will take my spot. :buddies:

They have out priced the rednecks. Once you have sold great granma's vintage Elvis plates from the Bradford Exchange, grampa's world war II Tarawa memorabilia and the Cragar's off the junk Nova in the front yard your are at the end of the line.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the media calling Johnson the greatest ever.

First of all, David Pearson won the championship every time he raced full time. He also has the highest winning percentage in NASCAR -- Kyle and Jimmie will never touch it.

Second of all, Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty both scored the most points when they won their championships (all 14 combined). Yes they were under different points systems, but in neither system was their a redistribution of points.

Third of all, Denny Hamlin getting the points lead after Richmond and Harvick being relegated to 4th disgusted me like you couldn't believe. That's like giving a 9-7 team the division championship over their 14-2 division rivals and making the 14-2 team play in the Wild Card game. It's like the BCS sending Virginia Tech to the BCS Championship and making Boise State or Auburn play in the Sugar Bowl. Bull ####ing ####.

The Chase was a tough pill to swallow on day one. Was the old points system perfect? No. But this was a knee jerk reaction to Matt Kenseth winning a championship he EARNED.

NASCAR will always get their ass kicked by the NFL until the NFL lockout commences. Instead of fixing what wasn't broke, NASCAR had a knee jerk reaction, imported a flawed points system from the USAR Pro Cup Series (because it worked over there  -- USAR had the chase system for a completely different reason that Bri Bri is too damn dumb to wrap his head around) -- end result, a guy has won 5 championships while scoring the most points in only 2 of them... and the fans are leaving the sport in droves. I just wish all the disenfranchised NASCAR fans would go support the ARCA Racing Series and their local short tracks. Those guys put on great races and have razor thin championship battles every year and don't need a welfare points system to make it happen.

I quit going to Richmond. That track is THE most boring track on the circuit, followed closely by Dover.

Pocono, Martinsville and Daytona are the only tracks that consistently put on a good show anymore.

A) Dump the welfare points system
B) Make the cars at least look like street cars (Mustang, Challenger and Camaro instead of the crap cars of now -- because every young stud buying a new car is drooling over an Impala or Camry)
C) Dump the welfare points system
D) Add more short tracks. Many of the races are only bringing in 40,000 people, no need to visit the oversized tracks anymore.
E) More road course -- this will bring in more fans (Sonoma and Watkins Glen consistently outrank most of the other races on TNT and ESPN)
F) Shorter season -- end the season at Atlanta on Labor Day weekend.
G) Drop the welfare points system
H) Get Cup drivers out of Nationwide and Trucks -- the series is never going to bring in new drivers to quality rides if they aren't able to get a seat in Nationwide or Trucks
I) Drop ticket prices
J) Drop the welfare points system

I could go on...
