Does anyone know of the existance of a local "Social Lending" group or something similar? I look horrible on paper, however, I feel if I delt with someone sort of face to face that I could convince them of why this could work for both of us.

And yes, I have tried Prosper. They said NO so thats why I'm in the bind (see above).

Not trying to be a smart a$$. Just kind of can see the writing on the wall with a post like this. In the meantime before it gets dark and the wolves come out....

I doubt I will be able to help you as I am unfamliar with any Social Lending institutions. But the thought that was going through my mind while reading the intial post was why you were looking for one. If it's something you feel comfortable discussing it might be worthwhile putting some additional information up. Maybe someone can offer a little better advice with a tad bit more info.

I have a feeling someone will help you out. There are a few well intentioned folks on here. I have faith in that you will have a couple of sincere folks trying to help as well as several folks telling you where to go.

2 I guess it depends on how big a bite the shark wants....The object here was for me to avoid a "payday" type thing with a 300% APR, but I would be willing to obviously pay a higher than prime rate. Also beggars can't be choosers I just know that about 3 to 4 k would put me back on budget, save my 17yr career, help me get my kids teeth fixed (ins is capped out), and pull my wife out of the depression that she has been in for 5 months all while giving me the chance to fix the remainder of my credit problems before I retire in 3 yrs.

Prosper.com has a huge turn around of people in your situation defaulting on their loans. No one will really bid on your loan if you're HR status unless you're vetted and sponsored.

I am a lender on prosper and I will tell you the amount of people who default is UFB!

I would suggest getting a loan with your car title from a bank. Stay away from Payday loans and car title loan (sharks).

There is a company called Circle Lending but that's if you already know someone who has the bucks to loan you, this site just makes it official and legally binding for you to repay.

I would say start doing some side work which men are able to find easier than women. Throw a yard sale or ask family for help.

Have you tried getting a loan from a lending institution like a bank, credit union, debt consolidation specialists?

Okay. Let me go ahead and be the biatch here. Get a better job. Pay off your bills and repair your credit like normal people do. Or perhaps you should not have let yourself get in this situation. If you are sitting here admitting how awful your credit is, how in the hell can you expect anyone to help you. UFB. WTF? Did you expect a handout? No way in hell would I give a loan to someone who cannot even get a loan from a charity loan service. Why do people nowadays think that life is handed to them?

Sounds like you may be in for a suprise when you go to retire in 3 years. You can always get a second job or do odd jobs on the weekends.
