I Love B00BIES

i don't have a problem with them per se...but if you really think kids are wearing them because they care so much about breast cancer and awareness..you make me giggle.

Boys wear them because they really do heart boobies, and want nothing more than to get their hands on a pair. Girls wear them because it reminds boys that they HAVE boobies. An occasional kid may have a relative they are wearing it in "honor" of...but I promise you if they said something like we should research ductal carcinoma in situ or I heart lobular carcinoma in situ research ....they wouldn't be wearing it.

I love it when you speak Fren....uh, Latin.

OMG - so you say " I have to go urinate" instead of pee???? or I have to empty my bladder to be politically correct??? Get over your extremely tight arse self!!! Do you squeek when you walk???? My son is 14 and he has an I heart BOOBIES t-shirt I bought him at Zumies - Yes its for Breast Cancer and YES I let him wear it - IN PUBLIC - and too PUBLIC school.

FYI - Breast Cancer isnt a deadly illness -dumb dumb. Cancer is a DISEASE!!!!!! An illness is curable.

Ok back to the subject. I think that how the parent was brought up is how they will make there kids be just like them. Uh, son you can't say tata because my mom would not let me say when I was a child. Times have changed people, don't keep your kids in the dark.

IMO, this is what it all boils down to, right here.

I know my boys like boobs (at least my oldest does... my youngest is still unaware that they're good for anything beyond a food source), and I'd be OK if they wore t-shirts covered with paintings, cartoons, and photos of boobs all over them. It's all good with me, personally. However, We the People have collectiveley decided that it's not cool in an academic or professional environment to advertize hooters.

Now this.

Anybody with a functioning brain should realize that these kids are not "raising awareness of breast cancer" with these wristbands.

They are simply feeling cool because they have an official license to wear something that says B00B1ES on it, because it's couched inside a PC socially encouraged cause. To them, it's the next best thing to waving a banner that says "TITS" on it.

That's it.

So, IMO, regardless of my personal opinion, tshirts and wristbands that say I <3 B00BIES are inappropriate for school.

That said, I want one of these wrist bands.

Just because I like tits.

Times have changed, but its till not appropriate to say such things or wear them in a school or work environment, unless you work at Zumiez. I know the language I used at 13, still do, in fact, but not in meetings, and not in my kids school. I know my kids use the same language not around me, and if they slip like I did, I wont bounce their head off the front door like my Mom did to me when I dropped the f-bomb on my brother during an argument when I was 15 and he 17. :smack:So yes, times do change. But not too much, I hope

I've had a good laugh reading where this thread has gone so far.

I do have to agree the kids should not wear a shirt with the slang on it for school but a braclet I don't see harm in that. I have seen those gonads on trucks before, redneck thing or SOMD I guess, it looks so stupid.

IMO the guys driving trucks with balls hangin underneath are insecure. Just tryin to make up for something they are lacking.

My actions will show you what I'm made of and if I've got balls (figuratively or literally) - not by hanging somethin from my truck bumper.

Any ladies wanna see my actions? LMAO

My middle schooler has several wrist bands and t-shirts with the logo referring to breast cancer awareness.

What do ya'll think?

I'm not sure how much of the sales actually GOES to breast cancer research, but that's another issue...I want to know how folks feel about wearing the logo stuff especially by middle schoolers wearing it to school.
I say let them wear them. In Calvert County, it seems that the middle schools don't like the kids wearing them but the high schools don't mind at all. I get the impression most of the girls wear them not to support breast cancer awareness but to draw attention from the boys, and the boys wear them not to support breast cancer awareness but to say that they like boobies. In either case, I think it does raise breast cancer awareness and that definitely is a good thing. As another poster said, they certainly already know these words, and it is not like they are cusswords.

They are banned at my sons middle school. Of course, I bought one for $4.50 for him on a Saturday. By the following Friday he had sold it for $9 and stopped at the chinese place in Smallwood and bought himself a dozen bbq wings and had change left over. :ohwell:

I guess my daughters middle school must be the only one in Calvert County that lets them wear them. I just asked her tonight and she said they were still allowed to wear them. I don't mind her wearing it. She bought it, I am sure part of the appeal is that it says the word "boobies" and that is a bad word, but at the end of the day she spent some of her own money, some of it was donated to cancer research and it is not hurting anyone.
They hear and see ALOT worse in middle school these days. If the worst thing my kiddo is doing, and the biggest thing I have to worry about, is her wearing a bracelet that says "boobies" on it I am ok with that....

I think it's crass and inappropriate. But when it's for a good cause people will say I am over reacting........wait....here it comes...
