My old helmet is ruined. It was the only one I had so no riidng for me until I pick up a new one.

I've browsed the shops here in Southern Maryland before and the shops that carry helmets don't have many on hand. I'd like to try a few on, can anybody recommend a shop that has a larger selection to choose from?

Why didn't you beat up the guy who caused your rant in the other thread and take his helmet?

Go online and get a cheapie till you find what you're looking for at a shop. Always good to have a spare.

Here's a helpful hint: Make sure that when you try the helmet on, you don't force it onto your head and you don't have your dangly earrings on. Sometimes they can be hard to get off and it creates an embarassing scene, or so I've been told.

I have a KBC FFR modular that I bought about a year and a half ago. I wore it once and didn't like it but I lost the reciept so it sits on the shelf. I was going to sell it on Ebay but keep forgetting. Have the clear and the dark shield.

I think it is a large, $50 and it is yours.

My last one was a flip face. Too much wind noise for me. I think I'm going to stick with a conventional full face this time round. Thanks for the offer though, appreciate it. :yay:

And thanks for the advice all yall (BSGal). :lmao:

What model Flip?? My Nolan is very quiet for flip, at least until I installed the Microphione and Speakers.. most people I know that ride LD wear ear plugs even with non-flip helmets.

AMS beat everyones prices by almost $100 on the Nolan. They have one in the shop I THINK of each size, but if you find out which one you want you can call them, and they'll have your helmet the next day.

I tried one at Bobs, but they didn't have the color I wanted.. $310.. Tried Atlantic Cycle they didn't have the model I wanted.. And AMS can order any helmet, and their price was $220 for the Nolan i wanted.

the next question is, How much is your head/ brain worth? You can get a Scorpion which I've heard is an exceptional helmet for the price.. Full Face maybe $125, maybe a little more.. Or you can go for broke and go with Arai Schuberth or Shoei for about $500 - $900.

Read the link in post #6 before you start spouting that the $600 Arai or Shoei provide "better" protection.

Ah there in lies the issue. I seldom used the flip feature. And the solid helmets ARE quieter (better quality hlmets are anyhow) I don't think I'll miss the flip face at all.

Not going low buck. I want to try a bunch on and I'll go with the one that fits best and has the best reviews. I'd like to have several vents, a good shield, and easily removable interior for washing.

I thought this was the best paragraph in that looong article.
In other words, a crash violent enough to overwhelm any decent helmet will usually destroy the rest of the body as well. Newman put this into perspective. "In most cases, bottoming [compressing a helmet's EPS completely] is not going to occur except in really violent accidents. And in these kind of cases, one might legitimately wonder whether there is anything you could do."

I don't think I said that..

I think I said the $125 Scorpion is an exceptional Helmet OR you can spend $500 - $900 on an expensive helmet.

I think my $220 Nolan is good enough.
