My treadmill motor cuts off occasionally. I'm afraid to use it now at the risk of injurying myself. How does one go about finding a treadmill repairman?
How long does it run before shutting off?

Does the motor speed up rapidly then shut off?

Does the control pannel go dark when it shuts off?

Does it start up on its own or do you have to reset anything?

Pete, it seems to cut out after it runs about 10 minutes or so. It doesn't make a difference whether the pace is a full run or a fast clip. Everything goes dead. It can be started up again later. I haven't fooled with it much now that it started doing this because I fear being in full jog and having it cut out causing serious injury.

Stuff like that happens as soon as the warranty is no longer valid. There is a power panel on treadmills that commonly go bad, and many of the reasons why they do not function properly can be found in the owner's Manuel. If you don't have that, many are online. AND, you can also contact Sears or the manufacture directly and they will give you names and numbers of repair persons in the are.

Sounds preety much like the motor control board. If you had a meter like the Binford 2000 I have you could turn it on and watch the voltage at the motor and see what happens. If the voltage goes away it is most likely motor control board.

Problem is with electrical parts if they know you installed it they will not refund if you dont need it. You could look up the manufacturer's web site, most have replacement parts and order a motor control board and change it yourself (be sure to mark the wires when you disconnect them) and try the new one. If it fixes it cool, if not return it and tell them you figured out what the problem was and don't need it. Worth a try if you are capable.

I could probably fix it fairly quickly, my dad was a TV repairman and I have tools :yay:
