Obama missed 40% of his votes since 2007, Hillary 30%, and John McCain 58%. What are we paying this guys a kajillion dollars for?

What what? Congressional votes Obama missed 40%, Hillary 30% McCain 58%. McCain missed more votes than Tim Johnson - the guy with the brain thingy who was out until he recovered.

If...

...we could just get the rest of them to miss as many or more votes, we'll all be better off. McCain exhibits true leadership in this area and sets the example for othersto follow.

It's a start and it would be worth paying them double to vote 1/2 again as often.

Good spin Larry!

...a spin, it's a view point.

Some people open the door and are glad for it because they know they're about to be given some stuff.

Others lock it and get out their weapons because they know their stuff is about to be taken.

Sorry I didn't understand, it wasn't exactly apparent what you were asking in that first post.

Yes it is ridiculous.

Have you seen the commercial where a bunch of fire fighters are running congress? THAT'S what we need.

Well: If you made it a requirement that in order to run for President you would have to quit the Senate, There wouldnt be many Senators in the race.

So: they just go ahead with their campaigns and some of them attempt to make the big votes others don't. Some of them use a vote to make points for their election. To be honest I doubt their presence is missed very much. In fact if we only had one Senator per state instead of two, we would save a bundle on wages ,retirements office costs, and perks, and the difference wouldnt be worth talking about.

It's discraceful that the thre top contenders for the presidential nomination have missed less than half their votes in the last 3 1/2 months

We elect them and pay them and pamper them for the sole purpose of representing us in gov't. That means they NEED to be there to cast our votes for us on every issue. I don't think there's a valid excuse to miss even one. Even though most of what they are voting on is frivolous BS, they are our voice in all matters and if they don't vote, we aren't being represented in exchange for our taxes.

But it's not surprising. I wonder what the average of votes missed per session is for the House and Senate as a whole...

Not to ruin the moment but aren't most of the "votes" in congress crap like "Agreeing to revise and extend the minutes of debate" and "Agreeing to revise the amendment and extend debate on the proposal of the Gentlewoman from New Mexico" Which are basically stupid votes on minutia?
