I voted Dem because.....

......
When your friends can't explain why they voted for Democrats, give them this list. They can then pick a reason . (I personally like No 1)

10. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

9. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

8. I voted Democrat because Freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

7. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

6. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

5. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies through abortion so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

4. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

3. I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the democrats see fit.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

1. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass that it is unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

ExonMobil's net profit as a percentage of operating revenue is more like 9%. I know cause I own millions of dollars of it's common stock.

The real laugh is, I personally know several who fervently believe in some variation of #3. They believe businesses should be non-profits, top brass should NOT be given exorbitant salaries, they should carry the burden of caring for the less fortunate, and that is the responsibility of the rich in the nation to care for the poor and meet their needs.

When you challenge them on how much they personally do on this, they will point to the fact that they pay taxes and petition the government to do this. That's the usual extent of their personal involvement - having Uncle Sam do it.

When you point out that their contribution to the mix is trivial compared the immense contribution of the more rich, their response is, we all pay, and so it's all our money.

I kid you not. I know tons of people who feel this way. One guy I know cannot stand the idea of people leaving their fortunes to their families when they die, insisting it needs to "go back to the government". "Go back" - I'm serious.

Hence my sig line: "A Liberal is a person who will give away everything they don't own" - William F. Carling

If we eliminate the federal gasoline tax, who's going to build new highways and maintain the highway system?

My idiot sister and her husband voted dem because "they thought it was time for a change". I know they also wanted freebies for their lazy ass oldest son who hasn't held a job for years because he is "is pain" but somehow rides ATVs and snowmobiles year around. God forbid he should have to face sitting at a desk though!
