i actually messed with vista for about 20 min on a puter at best buy.....some guy from the geek squad walked by and said "dont bother...it's garbage" which echo's what ive heard from just about everyone

Absolutely nothing works with it and it is a complete memory hog! I have 4GB of memory on this computer and it even ran slow! No way will I ever make that transition again! :lmao:

It is wierd but I reinstall my XP laptop somewhere between every six months to a semester (three semesters for school).

By the time you load all of the course specific software, or set different environmental variables it just becomes too big of a hassle.

I also made a good image of my machine at first installation (using Acronis True Image) so it takes fifteen minutes for me to reinstall, another 10-30 to do MS patches. Once it is up to date with new patches. I make a new image (cause it is good and updated). Before I start the semester.

ahh the memories of the good old Windows systems.... I think at the end of each semistar I had to reformat the computer so it would run right... at one point in time I had my Compaq computer thinking it was a made by Dell....

My computer crashed on me one and and I kicked it and went and bought a Apple MacBook Pro... yea I know waste of $2500... but it hasn't crash once... and on New Years I did a 10 track live recording with Anomaly for 2 sets (45 mins and 1.5 hours). :neener:

Well **status update**

everything went fine...there was a couple of moments that were a complete guess (do you wish to create new partition/overwrite)
i just guessed overwrite meant wipe over the previous.

It was nice afterwards to look at the program list and see just the bare bones
nice to run msconfig and only see a handfull of things running.

my biggest regret is that some programs had to be "released" my photoshop, pro tracks plus, FL Sudios.....gone.
I was told that unless you have original discs...that you cant "backup" programs
:ohwell:
