'Cause this winter might be the last time my family gets to see snow (except in "brief flurry" form) for a very long time.
Further bulletins as events warrant

You should be able to just dump them in there, they're just acorns. :shrug:pixiegirl said:Does anyone know the answer to my acorn question?

Oh, I've never seen non dried out acorns. The only place we had acorns was the house we lived in down here, and they were always brown. Just pop them in the oven or something.pixiegirl said:Well I don't know. They're still "green" and have moisture in them. I wouldn't want them to mold or anything or taint my paper pumkin thingies. I'm OCD like that!![]()

Actually if you do a google search on how to dry acorns, you'll find a vegetarian website that tells you how to cook them so they're edible. Boiling is the first step.pixiegirl said:That's a better idea. I won't say that I was considering boiling them to make sure there was nothing nasty on them.....![]()

jazz lady said:If they're still moist, they will grow mold and turn all fuzzy if put into a closed container. You can dry them by putting them on a raised rack outside in the sun for a few days or put them in the oven at a low temperature for a couple of hours. A food dehydrator works well, too.

pixiegirl said:See this is what I don't want! It's not a closed container but a candle hurricane. I'm still not chancing it. I'll bake them first.
jazz lady said:By closed, I meant any container that doesn't allow air to circulate freely and a candle hurricane is certainly that. Just make sure you use a VERY low temperature else you might get some explosions going on in your oven. Not that I would know anything about it firsthand.
