So all the crap I ordered was supposed to have shipped on the 23rd. Yet when I check tracking it just says the label was printed but the package hasn't been picked up. I emailed the place for verification / new tracking #.

Crap. I was hoping to get a few people together this weekend.

:burning:

I have a jute hard sleeve, but I don't want experienced dogs... doubt anyone on the forum has one ready for a hard sleeve... I prefer soft sleeves even with real crushers anyway, hard sleeves are for sport.

Dammit. :burning:

I was kidding. My gsds are fully trained for protection and lots of other stuff and yes they bite. My female is crazy and loveable gorgeous. My male is goofy and knows his job. I can get as many dogs as your little heart desires if you want test dogs. Just let me know. We train at applejack in Charlotte hall.

What do they do there for testing? They ever hold PP trials?

Dogs and handlers are tested before they move to the next level.

No no...

I mean, they say on their site they hold 'events' but I never actually SEE anything on the calender.

I'm talking about 'open' personal protection trials, like K9PS, PSAK9, SDA, ASR, etc. Even Mondio or French Ring.

There are some great independent venues too, that have 'sequestered' and very realistic scenario work to test the dogs...

Stuff like this, you go into it and first do OB, typically have to have a passing score before you can go on to bitework, and it's a great way for both trainers and handlers to test not only the dog, but the training and the teamwork.

I used to compete a LOT, but the last couple years, well, there isn't much around here except the SCH club by Waldorf, and I'm not a big SCH fan... SCH is too much sport, too little practical application.

I have a soft jute sleeve

The stuff I have coming is french linen (suit material). I don't like working PP dogs on jute, especially when I expect to transition them to a suit and hidden sleeve. Not unless they are crossing into sport...

Oh sorry no they don't good idea. My son would be interested in something like that. Oh wait. Clevalley said they do but last year they didn't do it. But he would love to do it this year with his since she is old enough.

Well, if I can get a place to stage it, I can organize K9PS and maybe SDA trials, and can probably brin a PSA trial down here too. I'm not big on PSA myself, it's closer to Ring than a PP trial, but a lot of folks love it and it's pretty tough.

So do they suit suit work or is it all sleeve based?

You can use Calvert fair grounds charge a fee?

Well ya I could... first trial I hosted was down in Orlando and held it at Tinker Field... cost me 1200 plus insurance for the field, had to have medics and security, etc. I lost my ASS. I was hoping enough people would spectate for a nominal fee... we had 32 teams, so good # of competitors, but only a handful of spectators. Which really sucked.

PP trials are NOT a money making proposition, LOL.
