Is anyone else using the IRS Website that requires an ID.me verification to enter? Thoughts?

I needed to use ID.me to setup an account with the SSA. I remember it being a PIA. I have to help my wife do it now.

I guess I was just being paranoid. Before sending them a photo and biometric information, I just wanted to see others' take on signing up. I've used ID.me before, but now they're asking for physical proof and I was reluctant to share that over the internet. Thanks for the input.

That's interesting. I was able to sign up using my social (which I normally don't like to give out, but it's for the IRS website) and answering a few questions about my credit history.

We're you able to do the fully automated version or have to speak to an agent? I tries 2 or 3 times doing the automated version and it failed on the facial scan. I suppose I'm so homely they want to view me like a circus freak. :ohwell:

I believe the SSA told me in December that having an ID.me acct was (or soon) no longer required?
I've never had an id.me thingie, and sign into SSA just fine with the code they send to my email.
Then again, I use a desktop, not "smartphone."

Depending on when you signed up will depend on which way they required she said. Had I signed up sooner I would have avoided the ID.me requirement.
