The problem with self-help justice is now the kid faces murder charges. Of course, a jury may decide to set him free. Not all jurors understand that they hold all the power in a jury trial in regards to the verdict. Even the judge stands when they enter and leave the room. Even if they know he committed the crime and the law says jail, they can all say NOT GUILTY. OJ Simpson trial is a case-in-point.
