If you have taken a child to a restaurant...

Most restaurants will dumb something down to make it kid friendly. I have always taken my girlie with me and she is a restaurant pro already.

Exactly  macaroni and cheese, all kinds of sides (veggies, rice, potatoes), chicken anything....and surely they'll take all the "stuff" off the chicken if you ask :yay:

Restaurant pro, haha

I cook foods that I know my kids will like. At some point I decided to quit making separate meals for each of them. I make them try foods that they claim not to like, but don't make them eat it if they honestly do not like it. But, if one of my kids insists on eating something that he/she does like...to bed hungry he/she goes.

Every restaurant that I've ever been to offers mac and cheese, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese, apple sauce, bread, breadsticks, chicken nuggets/tenders, or some form of chips.

My Mom used to make separate things from my picky eater brother when we were kids. She regrets it...now he doesn't eat much, basically green beans and lima beans for veggies and ZERO fruit. I think at this point it's in his head that he doesn't like something. Anyway, I'm with you on making sure the kiddos try something, even if they claim they don't like it. Still, I would always offer a plain sandwich of some kind. I'm not a fan of sending them to bed hungry. Then again, to each their own :yay:

Not everyone eats at mediocre chain restaurants, and some actually enjoy something more intimate where cheap crap isn't served.

Fully cooked meals are different from snacks. :duh:

I agree :yay:

It's still outside food. So, if I were to find something that states that it is indeed against the law/health department code would that change your mind?

Wouldn't change my opinion. I'm sure if we'd find something against the law/health department codes in just about every restaurant....as unfortunate as that is. If they tell me I can't bring in my lil Gerber cookies or whatever for my son, I'll just take my business to a place that would be okay with it. They'd lose out, not me.

If the kid is hungry enough, he'll eat what is provided. I most certainly did not have the many choices that kids have nowadays. I went to be hungry a few times. I made damn sure to eat my dinner the next day. Hell, I even ate the veggies that I hate now (lima and navy beans) so that I didn't have to go to bed hungry.

No! If you want to bring raisins or crackers or cheese puffs for the kids, feel free to do so!

Care to list a restaurant that does not serve chicken tenders or burgers in St. Mary's County? If there are no kid-friendly options for children to eat there, then children should not be there. Leave them at home.

Even the classy, intimate restaurants that you like to frequent serve chicken, mashed/baked potatoes and green beans, or something like that. There might not be a kids menu and you might be paying more for that lil ones meal than what you normally would, especially when you know he/she won't eat all of it as it's portioned for an adult, but that's what you have to expect when you chooose to take a child to a non mediocre chain restaurant :yay:

So when Little Johnny gets his mouth cut up by one of those snacks then you'll end up being the one sued. Sucks, but it happens every day. As I have said, there's no reason why Little Johnny cannot eat his snack before you get to the restaurant or find something on the menu to snack on.

Some people venture outside St Mary's County for meals. For example, we like to eat in DC or Annapolis a lot.

Agree! Socki had a different "meal list" in her post.

And I guarantee you that if the restaurant is a family restaurant, that they'll have options for the child to eat. Some restaurants do not cater to children for a reason...they'd prefer them not there.

Or in the car while you casually dine and enjoy your meal :jet:

What's your idea of a family restaurant? I've dined with very small kids at Ruths Chris before who had better manners than some adults I know.

Is your company hiring? I want to eat ar Ruths Chris, in DC and Annapolis. I mean, I have before...but....but.....well, I want to be able to do it more often!

We hardly ever eat fast food. If we do it is usually Chick-Fil-A and occassionally a Wendy's cheeseburger. Regular rotations for us are usually Clarke's Landing, Back Creek Bistro, CD Cafe, Front Porch, etc. type places. She's 13.

I like to cook so we don't eat out much either, fast food is usually Chick Fil A and restaurants vary but we've never had a problem finding something for our lil guy (he turned one in February). And I'm sure at 13, like yours, he'll be asking for things like king crab legs and filet mignon too! :jet:
