I worked with a girl who immigrated (legally) from Columbia to escape her dangerous environment. She came from a well-to-do family and said it took her about 5-7 years to become a United States citizen. Another thing that she told me was that it could be extremely nerve-wracking at times because you never knew when you could be sent back to your country or have your family members sent back. She still waited, however. She herself thought it was wrong to immigrate illegally and didn't like the fact that Latino illegal immigrants were causing her to be unjustifiably stereotyped.

I think it is GREAT when people from other countries want to come into America. Actually, one of my favorite things about college is getting to meet people from a variety of different backgrounds. However, I think it is wrong to cross our borders illegally. There are people waiting to get into this country legally and in my opinion it is wrong to cut in line (if you will). There are people in much worse living situations all over the world trying to get in to America, but since they don't live next door they can't just walk over here to escape. I definitely understand the incentive for Mexicans to cross our border to live here, but just because I understand how they think and feel still doesn't mean that I condone it or believe that our government should. I just want people to understand that being anti-illegal immigration isn't and shouldn't be a race issue.

I'm by no means an expert on this issue so maybe some of you guys know- has the government attempted to speed up the process of citizen naturalization in order to help reduce the amount of illegal immigrants? Perhaps as an incentive to legally immigrate? TIA.

In the past American has traded enlisting in the Armed Forces as a fast path to citizenship. Make all the Illegals serve 6 years in the Marines or something. It'll fix the recruitment shortages.

First you say you don't know where the information came from. Then you say it came from your friend. You say he is a FED. What sort of FED, what agency? I was a Federal Agent for probably more years than you have been out of diapers. If your friend is a, as you call it, FED, then he would not send this shat out if he were a true professional.
