I'm Not Tipping For a Pickup Order

My daughter worked at Ruby's for awhile, and each shift a waitress was selected to work take out.. they were still only getting the waitress wage, like $2 and change.. they are still dependent on tips for their wage. It's not their choice, it's how they end up on the schedule.
Not sure if all places are like this, but I still make sure I tip for carry out too.
If they are forced to work a position that doesn't get tips, then they will make less than minimum wage and their employer is supposed to, by law, pay them enough to make up the difference to minimum wage. Of course most wait staff make considerably more than minimum wage so maybe they believe only making minimum is not fair. I will note that most restaurants I order takeout from have the host/hostess do that function.

Server's Harsh Facebook Post After Customer Tips $0 On $187 Bill Reveals Exactly Why Tipping Is So Important

The Facebook server encourages people who ‘can’t tip’ to eat at home instead of going out.

“Servers are paid a base pay of $2-5/hr depending on the employer, so next time you don’t want to tip, regardless of the situation prior to receiving your bill, think about how much you would have to work that week off of $2-5/hr to feed your family, not just you.” she writes.

The consequences of a low-wages mean that a majority of servers in the U.S. are completely reliant on servers to provide their incomes — so, like this single mother, that means putting up with absurdly rude customers for, sometimes, nothing at all.

This server relays just that insecurity to her viewers — “Could you pay your bills based on that pay alone? Could you feed your family AND yourself?”

“Don’t even bother walking into a restaurant if you can’t afford to tip,” she writes at the end of her post, “There’s a Mcdonald's down the street if you’re that cheap.”
