You think about it and then say what it is that you are trying to say.

If you are correct and taking made us great, you don't stay great by going on defense.

We USED to be a nation of capitalists. We've become a nation of scared old ####s too wore out or too lazy to go make it and only wanting someone to protect us, security, wanh, wanh...

Then how do you KEEP what you have gained without defense?

We still are, for the most part, a capitalist society, a lot of socialism has crept into it, but the protection afforded to us by our government was a part of the covenant of the government that we agreed to and what that government was designed to do that it isn't doing very well.

Open the ####ing store. That's how. You want in? Here's the price.

Lemonade stand works for some many things. What I hear is a bunch of dumb asses saying "Oh, oh! We gotta shoot people to keep them away from the lemonade stand! Too much demand!"

If there is that much demand, make 'em pay for it. National Immigrant ID card. Fee's, fines. Use the value of the thing. For the national interest.

No, we are not.

Medicine, 20% of the economy; not market based
Banking; not market based
Energy; centralized control
Air travel, cars, hardware stores, all BIG money, BIG control
Throw in the entitlements and forget about it.

So, fences, barbed wire, gun towers, a great wall?

Because this worked for the French the Soviets and the Chinese?

the French ? - The Maginot Line was not for keeping people from wandering across the border into France

it would certainly drastically cut the numbers from 25,000 a month ...

China kept out the Mongol Hordes with the Great Wall ...

that was in the past .... 1914 we did not had 25,000 Mexicans and other nationalities streaming across the border every month

that does not work in this day an age .... here is the price - and then what  free healthcare, Welfare benefits

Yeah, history is always idiotic, huh? Where were the armies the commies were trying to keep out in Berlin, dumb ass? I suppose you'll need me to answer that for you based on your comments? There weren't any. They were trying to approach complex problems the same way you propose; massive control issues. To a hammer, every problem looks like a nail, thus, you sir, are a tool.

There are a lot of ways to 'secure' a border including dealing with the issues of why and managing them. :buddies:

Uh Sorry Larry, the commies weren't trying to keep armies out. They were trying to keep their own people from running away.

I agree with most, as a country, we have obviously already inherited the illegals that are here. But we do need to secure the border or it won't stop. As far as Amnesty, not total. I think an application for a green card is required as part of any amnesty program. If you don't apply within a year you are exempt from any amnesty and SHALL be deported. It will fulfill our govt's obligation to protect the rest from undesirables. There's plenty of those here. Back home they go if any crimes other than crossing the border have been committed.

As far as I know, my grandfather may have come here illegally from Scotland. He rode a boat over but I couldn't find him in Ellis' Island records!

Keep on banging to make you think. You are so hung up on "militarization". You said earlier to "open the store" and if "they" want to come in, they pay the price? What price would that be if they can get it for free? The store is already open, along with our national coffers, to anybody - who enter along vast stretches of the southern border. If it is not policed (militarization in your mind) with humans and physical barriers (pillboxes and Maginot lines in your mind), then why should we need ANY kind of immigration policy as long as these peeps just come and go as they please?

Sounds to me like your idea of compromise is essentially open borders and the honor system that all non-US will stand patiently in line at approved checkpoints with unarmed civilians processing them through.

Secure the borders first, as already mandated by congress, along with the responsibility of the Executive branch to secure the safety and sovereignty of the country then sort out who is here, and those here ILLEGALLY will have to pay a higher price for what used to be a privilege of being a US resident. It's not a privilege anymore - just taken for granted.

You're the one that put militarization of the borders in the poll instead of just secure the borders. And yes, there is a difference.
