I am near Greenwell State Park, which has a lake and a real sand beach.

Vrai, I think we're having a misunderstanding here. When you say 'beach", I'm thinking waves, surfers, boardwalks, and miles and miles of sand to sit, ride, and walk on... not a glorified sand box on a lake. Geeze... you really do need to come and spend some time in Florida if you think GSP is a "beach."
