Imported eggs

We are going to import eggs from South Korea and Turkey, how old are these eggs going to be by the time they get here?

Wonder how many will be broken.

Why wouldn't we just import laying chickens?

If we import the chicken we have to check for bird flu, if we import the eggs.......

I think there is a ruling that live animals must be impounded for a period. Can you image the keeping area for thousands of hens who lay an egg a day? omg.
I don't think either one is a great idea, but I would think the holding area on the boat could be setup up and considered the impound period.

Too bad they can't be frozen, shipped to us and reanimated when thawed.

How about shipping fertile eggs that hatch within a day or so of arriving? Shipping delays could be a problem...

I'm making light of this because I think it's dumb to import eggs or hens when we have the capability to mass produce here, safeguards in place. A large, new egg laying facility can be put up in no time at all. I'd have to think the overall cost would be far less than importing.

In theory, the virus is larger than the pour walls of the egg shell.

I'm not yoking either!

They'll be individually masked and spaced 6' apart.
6'.... 6" .... whatever.

Probably. It's the shell that the virus cannot get thru. The sanitizing wash might remove virus too.
The shell is somewhat porous, that's why we must keep them refrigerated because the coating is removed.

In Europe, and most other European countries, eggs are not refrigerated and sold as such in stores. They don't wash them prior to sale. It seems that those people are smarter and more personally responsible than us Americans and wash their eggs before use, or not at all. Amazing they don't get sick, huh? We've been scammed to no end.

Smarter, nope. Don't know the exact orgin of the washing of eggs but I'm sure it comes from the reforms of food handling a la "The Jungle". Like they ridicule us for the Kinder ban because our laws supposedly only allow food can be put in food, debatable. Our Kinders toy comes seperate.

Thinking it has more to do with the nanny state we are in. Because ya know, stupid people? Eggs, absent washing, and refrigeration, can last better than three months when kept in a cool place. Such as a root cellar.
