In Need of Feral Spay/Neutar Services

I have many new cats who have wandered over from the trailer park near where I live after the person who used to feed them moved away. My little colony was nicely under control until this bunch showed up.

I have used SPOT in the past but don't want to wear out my welcome there and am trying to not use them again if I can avoid it. I have about 10 cats that need to be fixed.

I am feeding all these guys - that is all my budget will bear. I have traps and can do the transport and pick up myself - I just need some funding.

Anybody out there that can point me to funding or assistance with this situation? I had thought of contacting FOF but they don't seem to have any funding - just low cost clinics.

Thanks for any help/advice you can offer!

The St. Mary's Animal Welfare League (SMAWL) is a non-profit membership organization working to help the homeless, abused and neglected animals in our local community and, in times of extreme need, in our larger national rescue community. Immediate goals include aggressive campaigns to find homes for homeless cats and dogs and to curb pet overpopulation through Spay/Neuter programs. Future goals include the building of a no-kill shelter in St. Mary's County. Services provided include pet adoptions, spay/neuter grants and discount vouchers, monthly low-cost rabies clinics and humane education. In addition, we recently started the regions only Pet Food Pantry to serve low-income and recently unemployed pet owners. SMAWL is an all volunteer organization and welcomes new members and volunteers. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, including fostering animals waiting for adoption. To contact SMAWL please call (301) 373-5659 or send an e-mail to SMAWL@yahoo.com.

When I called my Callaway store a few minutes ago, my manager there was helping load the A/C van with food for the food pantry. :yahoo:
We donate expired food and are also a drop off point if anyone wants to donate food or kitty litter.

Last I knew, you get the rescue discount after you pay for 5 feral cats (in that year) at Humane Society. You'll still end up paying close to $100 per cat if you get them tested also. I started also getting the injection de-wormer and Distemper too. That's why Joey's bill was $102.

So the price at the vet isnt THAT bad!!! :killingme

Cost on those tests I knew was about $20 in quantity. Oh hey the vet I took the new boy to has a 3 way test that also includes Heartworm! So in that case the test price isn't so bad eh? They charged $61 for the test and $7 to draw the blood.
