Is there a difference for individuals who file "Married filing separately" compared to "Married filing jointly" as far as the tax amount owed? not including any deductions or anything, just the liability for the amount of income each earned

Yes there is a difference and it is usually the least beneficial way to file.

A benefit (should it be needed) is each is responsible for the validity of what is filed on their form only.

I am not a tax professional.

Thanks PMW, another question you may be able to answer; will my tax be higher now that I am married over being single for the same income no matter how I file?

Is your husband a deadbeat bum? If he is you can claim him as a dependent

You gonna take my man card? lol....I'm asking because I got married and recently found out that the whole year I took it up the azz for claiming "0" deductions, my lovely bride claimed 2 all year long. Even though "our money" is our money, I always used my return to take the kids on vacation, won't have that option this year the way it looks. I've done that ever since the divorce to make sure I didn't have to pay at the end of the year.

I prefer that the government loan me money intrest free rather than me give them the use of my money for free

Yep, That's how smart people do it. When i got divorced and had to shell out 8k to the tax man, it caused me to go into prevent mode. I had no write offs what so ever and could not afford to take a chance on owing again.

It's getting better and one I may be as good at life as you are, except for that faggy car you drive, that's all you.....:buddies:

Can't answer that one without all your details. Go to TurboTax® Tax Preparation Software, FREE Tax Filing, Efile Taxes, Income Tax Returns and use their TaxCaster tool to get an idea.

Or start a return with TurboTax and start plugging in your numbers.

Use the W-4 to adjust your allowances for 2012 as needed and don't think the number of allowances equates to the number of people in your household.
