Infant Day Care

I posted this on Parenting and Children but figure I will gain more exposure here. I am in need of infant day care and am coming up short. I have called 6 in home day cares, 4 didn't return my call, 2 were not taking infants. I have tried some day care centers, but most don't take younger than 2. My baby will only be 2 months old when I go back to work. Creative Beginnings has no openings. We are on the wait list on base for both the center and in homes. Any suggestions? We live in Lexington Park near the base.

Did you check out the Classifieds:Childcare section of this website? There are licensed daycares on there, and I think a few had advertised infant openings that you could check out...

Also the church on the corner of 4 and 235 has a sign out that says they have childcare for infants to 12 months...

Here's the link if it works:

Didn't think of this! Thank you much - although recommendations would make me feel better than going about it blindly. I also PM'd Watercolor. Lusby is a hike. Thanks again everyone and any more recommendations appreciated.

Have you tried the Southern Maryland Child Care Resource Center? From their home page: "The Southern Maryland Child Care Resource Center (SMCCRC) is a private non-profit agency that works with parents, child care providers, businesses, and community organizations to help promote the availability of quality child care in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's Counties. SMCCRC has multiple services to offer child care providers and families."

You can try Riversong which is near the instersection of 4 and 235. My son is in their preschool program. I am not sure if they have infant openings but it is worth a shot 301-862-9203. Good Luck.

good luck.. Finding good daycare is hard to find.. Infant care is almost not heard of anymore. Providers are limited to how many they can have. Now parents have to find and secure infant spots 3 months or more before the child is even born. When you do find care or if you find care follow your instinct and if you don't feel good about the situation move on.

You know the worst part about it is they are driving licensed daycare providers out of business these days. Sometimes those really smart people are really not so smart. It is a real shame because people cannot find good daycare for infants anymore..

Best of luck...
