Start with recording your 1st day LMP. Then go buy an ovulation test kit, there are instructions inside. It helps to know how many days your cycle usually is, most are 28 days but you might be different. Take a good multivitimin starting now, stop smoking, cut back on drinking or quit. Keep caffiene to a minimum too. Good luck.

Having a 24 - 48 hour window where you know you're going to ovulate really helps. You can also ask your doc to start you on clomid, it helps a lot of women and is not a drug that requires any kind of intervention, monitoring, or testing.

Can't clomid result in multiples? I had to take it once to get back on cycle and they warned me about it.

I know perfectly when I did almost to the minute actually. Clomid didn't work for me. I ended up going the full blown terribly expensive IVF route complete with extensive testing, 5 shots a day, and surgical retrieval of eggs. It worked though! Two treatments and a beautiful baby each time.

The biggest advice I can give ladies is don't wait till you're in your late 30s to have kids. It might be too late!

Clomid can result in multiples but the instances of it aren’t really that high, your doc can give you stats. It’s really the first thing you do if you’re serious about having a baby and the normal things, like ovulation prediction, haven’t worked.

See, I hate needles anyway, so I REALLY don't wanna be giving myself shots and stuff.. I don't mind pills but no needles :eek:P See I'm almost mid 30's and have been wanting a baby for about 2 years but haven't really officially been "trying" yet but I want to very quickly !!

I highly recommend reading the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It is extremely informative and easy to read. In fact, I would recommend it to any woman, whether they were trying to acheive or prevent pregnancy.

Well take it one step at a time. The ovulation test kits are pretty cheap and you can get them at the grocery store even, might as well start soon. Make an appointment with your doc, any doc can probably get you on clomid (just a pill), and explain the basics to you. Clomid is cheap and widely used.

While you are on it, and timing your sexual activity to maximize results, they might want you to take a clomid challenge test to see hormonally how your body is responding to the clomid. That is critical to move forward. I don't know how good your insurance is but after this point it starts getting expensive and invasive. Good luck to you. Hope just keeping track of your optimum dates works for you. Read all you can on the subject to educate yourself, it helps to know what questions to ask and to discuss intelligently with your doc the best options for your particular case.

I'm surprised that your doctor hasn't given this to you yet.
I took it and it didn't help nor was I able to determine my actually ovulation window with the kits but I know alot of women who do.

Generally with the Clomid they start you on a low dose and will increase it gradually if there isn't success. If this doesn't work you'll be refered to a specialist.

First I would try the ovulation kit and keep good temp records for the next couple of months. If doesn't work take this info to your doctor and ask what to do next. If your husband doesn't mind being tested let him do it, it's easier to test him than you.

That's the understatement of the year! :killingme He got to jerk off in a cup, he was mildly embarrassed but not poked, prodded, stuck with needles, given an HSG, or subjected to transvaginal ultrasound. It's amazing the indignities you'll put up with to have a baby. :lmao:

It can, but not always. Depends on how well you are o'ing and how strong of an o and how many follicles are produced at on cycle day 5-9. With me, obviously I only had one follie.
