Am I the only one having brutal connection issues today?

I've been dropping my connection about once every 10-20 minutes today... all day. I've rebooted the modem, power-cycled the modem, etc. about 20 times today.

When I called for service, they said their techs were booked solid, and I wouldn't be able to have someone come out for a couple weeks.

So I thought I'd try getting my modem exchanged... it's been screwing up for awhile now... although never as bad as today... so I ask where the nearest Comcast center is and what hours they are open...

Of course... 9-5. No weekends. Like I don't work during the day or something.

Well thanks a lot Comcast. I so wanna find someone else to get service through.

I'm not having issues.

If you look at the internet site you'll see they have Saturday hours. TC's are not booked out weeks .. merely days. We have franchise and FCC standards to adhere to. Don't you live in White Sands? I know for a fact that our Pr. Frederick office is open from Noon to 8pm on Tuesday's and until 1pm on Saturday's.

This is your captain!
I don't know if DSL is the answer - my connection speeds have been going down the toilet every evening for the past few weeks. Even the fast speeds are nowhere near the advertised 1.5Mbps. My upstream connection speed is supposed to be 384kbps, but it started having connection issues, so rather than fix the problem, they cut my upstream speed. Sucks all around.

CableChick... let me clarify. They only have hours available, 1 block this week, to come out when I'm working. I asked them if they had any late afternoon slots available, and there aren't any.

I just called the PF office and found out about Tuesday's hours. The guy at the 888-Comcast number told me they were only open 9-5 during the week.

They did say that this area is apparently having lots of problems right now, since most of their service slots are blocked out.

If I could DSL service without activating a phone line, I would.

I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.
If I drop Comcast internet, then my Comcast cable rates go up because I don't have the package deal anymore.

If I get DSL, I could probably get internet for $29.99 a month + whatever it costs to activate the phone line. That's pretty good I guess.

But if I have to switch my cable to satellite, since there aren't anymore cable companies in White Sands, then I either have to sign a contract or pay pretty big installation fees. The problem is I'm hoping to move this year, and it could happen any time, and I don't want to get locked into a contract.

We're having the same exact problem with GMP.

:yeahthat: They were down on and off several times this week. Mainly during working hours. When I was with Comcast, I noticed that a few days would go by with problems, I would call, schedule service, and suddenly the problem was fixed.

Morning hours are the first to go. Strange they have no afternoon hours. Usually you can even get a Saturday if you book a week in advance. Saturday's go FAST.

I'll let you know the schedule when I get to work tomorrow morning.

Move to a condo, get cozy with your neighbors... Drill holes in your wall, share phone lines and cable, use a splitter... Do a DSL at one house, share a wireless modem - wander aimlessly throughout your house... split all bills... problem solved.

Until GMP or Comcast or Verizon eff up like always...

And, no... I don't know this from experience..

Thanks...
I'm out of town next weekend, so my only option is late afternoons on Monday-Wednesday. :ohwell:

Seems to be working a lot better though this morning.
Maybe they fixed whatever was causing the problem... (as soon as I post this I'll lose my connection again).

Comcast is a perfect example of why monopolies are bad. They need to take a survey on why customers have gone to dish for TV and DSL for internet then overhaul their attitude.

Verizon DSL, 29.99 a month, great connections, speed, service and I still have my phone line. But they have to have the service in your area.

P.S. I don't work for verizon.

hrrmmm funny.. I call comcast and talk to their techs in the internet department and they are great.. They pop my modem and let me know if a line is slow somewhere or if they are having tranmissions issues.. I noticed today it wasnt blazing fast but still better then dial up.. Also it seemed to be only certain websites with the issue so It really could have been an interet problem in general..

I'm currently enjoying very fast and reliable broadband service via DirecWay. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for in this as in many other things.
