Apparently Mike doesnt' realize that if the government can do this to a non-citizen, they can do it to him too. That's what you get when you throw Habeas Corpus out the window.

Let's haul Mike in and torture him until he tells us where Bin Laden is hiding. I'm sure he knows. He may insist he's a U.S. Citizen 'protected' by our Constitution, but pay no attention to him, because lying like all terrorists do before we torture them.
They're entitled to NO rights under our constitution because they are NOT American citizens dumbass. :smack: Sleep well at night knowing we're torturing them all. (although you have no clue what torture is) Mike

One of the first things President Abraham Lincoln did was to do away with Habeas Corpus. I guess he was cruel and unusual.

I dont believe President Roosevelt was too worried about it either. Yes!! Teddy nor Franklin. Both obviously cruel and unusual.

Do you believe we are at war or is the behavior of those folks who practice terrorism (so sorry, freedom fighting) falls under the heading of antisocial behavior that is handled by the police and the courts?

If these people wore uniforms wouldn't their antisocial behavior then be covered under the Geneva Convention? Because these people don't wear uniforms, they still would be covered under the Geneva Convention but would be executed as spies. I think quite honestly they are being treated more than fairly under the rules of war.

When was the last time a coalition POW was tried in a terrorist court after being afforded a lawyer?

I could be wrong, but I'm not.

I believe too many people have assumed that the opinion of the author that release of the dude proves his innocence. There is no such thing in the article or in any other evidence. They then take the position that he has the same rights of an American citizen and that his capture and imprisonment is somehow outlawed by American laws. Too bad the American school system doesn't do a better job of teaching these folks who get their news from headlines in WaPo and McNews to think logically.

Yes, you would trade all your rights for so-called security if you could, wouldn't you?

Why not trade in your right to keep and bear arms? After all, if guns were banned and confiscated, there would be no fire arm deaths...

These trade offs may protect us from terrorists, but now we are no longer protected from the government.

Honestly, I think the Constitution is wasted on 90% of you people here.

Wow, I actually agree with you on some things! Who would have thought!
Yes, I would never trade MY rights for any so-called security, that is exactly what gun laws do, make you feel safe when you are actually less so.
Oh, I am glad to see that you finally acknowledge that keeping and bearing arms is a RIGHT.
Oh, and in my opinion, the muslim terrorist suspects have no rights, they lost those when they impeded on the rights of the thousands of people they have killed and maimed. They deserve what ever they get!!!:smack:

The Civil War had an end, the war on terror does not. It is an enemy that will never be defeated, but can be minimized.

You cannot hold someone indefinitely without charging them with something and giving them a chance to defend themselves.

We cannot and will not live like this.
