Interest in Establishing a Dog Park

Shooting for spring. They are down there seeding and strawing the area today. They had to remove all the old asphalt from underneath ground surface.

Calvert County has a dog park on Grays Road.

Drove by it one day (during a hot day, and it didn't seem like there was much shade) - there wasn't a dog in sight, so not sure how busy it gets, maybe on weekends its better.

I noticed Annmarie Garden just installed a new water fountain that has a doggy level to it (dogs must be on leashes and poops scooped)

I think that a dog park would be great! I have a little one that loves to run and play with other dogs. If you need a signature on a petition let me know. I used to live in Akron, Ohio and they had a dog park every 15 miles. My little one loved it there, but around here you have to keep them leashed in most areas.

You can take your dog on the beach at Point Lookout. It's the beach on your left before you go over the causeway.

Seriously? Last time I took my dog there (about 1 year ago), they told me that I couldn't bring pets onto the park and we had to turn around and go home. Now I take my dogs to Elms Beach. They love running on the beach.

Whoever told you that is incorrect. FYI: Dogs are allowed in all County Parks, however, they must remain on leashes. They are currently installing the fencing around the off-leash dog park at Lancaster Park. Permits for the water fountains have been applied for -- not sure if they're approved yet.

Update: Checked out the dog park this weekend. Fencing is mostly installed. Still need to install the gates. No water fountains installed yet, but everything is moving along nicely. The trees on the interior will provide nice shade. Check it out at Lancaster Park. Located in the back of the park across from Field #5 (multi-purpose field).
