Intersection opinions

I have to write a paper for my college class and i need some St.marys county peoples opinions in order to do it. What do you think about the way the roads are set up around the following areas: the Wawas on Rt. 235 and st andrews? the target area after they did the construction on the center median? and the sheetz on rt. 235 and Chansolars Run road. If you do reply to this please let me know what you think about these intersections and if you feel they are poorly designed when it comes to safty and the ability not to get into an accident. this is strictly opinions on the subject but if you do reply to this make sure it stays on topic. thank you.

I navigate this intersection at least once a day and it is terrifically unsafe. There's a right turn yield off Chancellor's Run with it's "own" lane, but the problem is that cars travelling south on 235 get in that lane to turn into Sheetz, which has caused me to about have a heart attack numerous times. Now I sit there until the light turns green or there are no cars coming to make that turn, and the honking road rager behind me can sit on a tack. That's the only safe "yield" at that intersection.

What the purpose of that yield is, I have no idea. Why wouldn't they have just made it a regular intersection with a "right turn on red"?

That cluster-hmm at Rt4 and Rt 5 is poorly designed as well.

Depends, what kind of car do you drive, and are you planning on trading it in soon?

Do you ride a horse? How many miles a week? How many miles per bale do you get?

We went to Rita's last week-end, we didn't get it. Does anyone else find Rits'a as confusing as the 235/4 intersection?

Poorly designed. You need more U-Turn signs and even a U-Turn light. A lot of people still think all U-Turns are illegal.

I think if you are going to have a topic of poorly designed roads, I don't think you can leave out the bridge.. and "what if" disiaster scenarios.

this is true. my teacher wanted me to narrow it down to certain areas, thats why i chose wawas, target, and sheetz; because they are all in very close proximity to each other and they all have the same types of intersections for the most part.

OK here is an answer for one section. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 235 and Chancellors Run road intersection, the problem is the Hugh population of homes that have to bottle neck into a 2 laner. This road not only gets flooded, but has one of the highest accident ratings in my opinion!!! I stay off this road like the plague... :coffee:

I believe the Sheets intersection in California is the safest in terms of design. I can't speak for the statistics. If people stay in their designated lane and yield as is requied by law, there generally are no issues.

Most common error I see is people coming out of Town Creek in the left hand lane and shooting over three lanes to get to Sheets...PICK THE CORRECT LANE PEOPLE!! THERE ARE EVEN ARROWS TO FOLLOW!!

The other problem I see here is people coming out of Sheets and making a U to go back to Great Mills. I don't believe there is a NO U Turn sign.

Hope this helps
