"59 Lawrence"

Having graduated high school with academic and athletic honors, Lawrence, 34, became a successful owner of a chain of tanning salons. But he was never able to dull the pain of emotional and physical abuse suffered in childhood. Alcohol took hold and Lawrence became a shell of his former self, often drinking a liter of vodka a day. A recent battle with cancer left him further weakened. Lawrence's loved ones stage an intervention in the hope that this show of love and support will help Lawrence get the help he needs, and that by sharing his story he might help others..............

SPOILER-

He is asked to leave treatment, stays sober for 3 weeks-relapses-he dies.

Look my ass glows!
I watched this episode last night w/mixed feelings. It truly was a sad story. God knows he took care of enough folks in his short life. That gal pal of his was a screwed up as they come-she even cut up his food for him-she had her own issues. I had a gut feeling right from the start he wouldn't survive.

No-me too!
What did you think-wasn't he a sad case?

Absolutely! I don't for the life of me know how a mother could allow her husband to beat her children like that AND THEN one night run out of the house to get away from him and leave them there to deal with his anger. He took custody of his brothers when he was 20. Yeah, momma was a POS.

He really had a lot of demons inside that he needed to face and deal with. And it's unfortunate but it seems as if he never had anyone that he could count on.

What a powerful show.

:gasp:

I KNOW!! I cry every episode. Did you see the alcoholic from Las Vegas last week? He passed and he said he didn't need any help, he was a year younger than me. I have no tollerance for abusers. I have never had such a problem but I have been there, my willpower was strong enough.

My anti drug is food right now.:killingme

Methodically disorganized
There was an 8 pm show too...two different addicts, James and Michael.
I didn't see it either; I saw only promos for the "in-depth" episode this past week. :ohwell: Was the 8p ep. a repeat or new?

If there was an 8pm show, I missed it. I watched the 9pm heroin show.

I didn't think it was all that sad. The pregnant girl didn't make me sad at all but angry. How in the hell can someone shoot up while pregnant? BUT I did realize a long time ago that I do not understand addiction at all. I've been around it my entire life and resent it so I can never understand it. If that makes sense.

:yeahthat:

How about at the end when it said that (I think it was 8) teens died of heroin overdoses in the 6 weeks since taping that episode
