That was an unpleasant memory...ruined food in the freezer, basement flooded, then mold. The yard was a mess...no generator. Then learning that it utterly flooded out some of my favorite little communities up in rural NY (Schoharie Valley). Candle light for days...batteries dying...trying to save meals from the fridge. UGH.

Neighbor's tree took out two of our three cars. Had the tree been a few inches taller, all 3 would have been toast. The top of the tree was right at the third car's door!

My apologies but Irene doesn't really stand out to me. Was that the storm that tore up Wildwood?

Isabel and Ernesto tore our island to pieces. Irene largely left us alone. Guess it was someone else's turn.

My FaceBook memories feed has been full of Irene reminders this week. We came out ok. Tense times.

I think I was three days without power. No trees lost, but it was stressful waiting to see if one was going to take out my roof. I went over to a friend's house in Town Creek to check on her and it looked like a bomb had been dropped on that 'hood.

We got clobbered in TC. Dozens of trees down, all roads in/out blocked, without power for 7 days, had to literally stop a repair truck in the road to get our lines repaired. Thank gawd for the generator and chainsaws. Showered at work all week.

I had a tree down in the yard and lost power for three hours.
That was the one that flooded Bortnick Ford in Upper Marlboro on 301 to four feet. Something like 50% of the roads in Prince George's County were flooded and our dumbass then Superintendent had us going in on time. Route 4 at the Wayson's bridge was flooded.

Ha, I just looked at FB and the video I took of my yard and deck popped up. What a mess. I do not miss home ownership.

Went through Irene with my mom as I wasn't going to let her ride out the storm in a mobile home. Only a couple of small dead trees across the driveway and leaf/limb debris in the yard, but others around me weren't as fortunate. Was without power for several days and wound up staying with my mom, whose mobile home was undamaged and had power back the next day.

Part of my front yard.
Also had a tree decide to take a nap on one vehicle.

Lost about 15 oaks in a strip of woods that separates our neighborhood from another's.

I was hoping that Irene would take out a bunch of my trees, because then my insurance would pay for their removal. No such luck, though.

It did a good job of tearing up the region. Roads were closed because of downed trees and wires. It took SMECO more than a few hours to get power back on.

I didn't really remember Irene till I went back and looked in my archives. Yeah now I remember. Lots of rain in the southern portion of SMC - more than 10" - but not a lot of wind damage. Town Creek was hit the worst based on my pics and video.

I just uploaded a video I put together back in 2011 if you care to watch...

Thanx! A little reminder....
