They had him so juiced up and running him ragged these last two weeks that he crashed.
I feel like - once again - the media is gaslighting us over his "heroism" to decide to drop out of the race.
The party - and others - have been pressuring him to leave. He's resisted, by saying, look guys, I'm the damned President, and I am not going anywhere. And right up until the disastrous debate - EVERYONE, from KJP to Jill to Clooney and Kamala - they all insisted - he is just fine.
Joe made it seriously clear up until Sunday - he was staying IN, although sources say he changed his mind Saturday, and only told campaign staff about a minute before the Tweet.
More and more representatives, party leaders, Senators and so forth were "calling on him" to leave, and he STILL told them to go pound sand.
Then came the donors - PULLING their money out - unless he quit.
Sorry for all the schmucks who insist that he CHOSE to leave on his own desire to see the best for the country - HE WAS FORCED OUT. We won't find out what DID happen, this weekend - but as I posted elsewhere, whomever - party leaders - donors - read him the riot act. The horse's head on the pillow - an offer he couldn't refuse - they told him, leave, or ELSE. He "chose" to leave.
Even people who like him - who have actually followed him and not just given mental assent and tell everyone how great he is, unaware of ANYTHING he's done - they MUST know, he does have skeletons in his closet, and like his cognitive loss - it is not a Republican fabrication. It's real. Maybe you think it's trivial. Maybe you know it's not, but don't care. *I* think the powers that be - his "handlers" - said, we're airing your famly's dirty laundry over the next few weeks, and you WILL be out, but in disgrace. Take it or leave it.
That's life, when someone else controls you. They can make you a prince - or a pauper.
