Yea that retard is still open...

The guy is sort of goofy, but sometimes I go there because his shop is close. I get much better service out of the guys at PAC (Pacific Adventure Center) over on Solomons. Depends on what you need I guess.

Mike doesn't usually rape you like those guys in solomons though.... I have only bought spare parts from them when i got caught short, and every time i swear i wont go back. Mike on the other hand might be weird, and have a shop that smells like dog, but he usually does right by you.

and yes Mikes is still open, usually the shop opens around noon

I wouldn't want him to know you called him goofy, he's a big guy.

Goofy? Heck, yeah.

But he has a heart of gold.

I'll take goofy any day as long as he treats me well.
Amen, the man is honest and gives more back to the community then I'm sure he makes. He just doesn't put a sign out front boasting of his community activism

I have known Mike for 30 years and he is a DORK. However, you will never meet a better person. I was in there one day when a person from St. Mary's College came in and asked Mike for reduced prices on a couple of bikes for a family they were supporting for Christmas. Mike picked out two brand new bikes and loaded them in her car for free.

I could go on and on telling you stories about the guy's character. Yep, he is rude and crude, but you will never find a more caring person. He has done wonderful things for the community and never asked a thing for himself in return.

Great! and Thanks!

I have a 25 year old mongoose bmx bike that I need new rims and brakes for.
Good thing bikes haven't changed much over the years. :)

Anyone one who would call him anything less than a great person, really does not know what he does for the community. Why not find out more about a person or business before posting negative (and baseless) comments?

I am very happy with the bike I bought from him last summer.

I support what he does with the kids.

Mike's Bikes is a local business worth supporting.

Or maybe you would rather just buy from walmart? To the detriment of local businesses...

I loved his inner tube hose monster costume at the NiteLife. Also, I broke my #### biking St. Mary's Lake one day and he stopped and had the tools to fix it so I didn't have to push it four miles. Okay in my book. :yay:

Agree with you, I use to race bikes at Budds with him years ago.

He is a good guy but when I brought my bike in for new parts he basically told me that it wasnt bought here so I dont give a crap. I love my Kenda claws that I bought from him though

LOL, sounds like something he would do. BTW, appearances are decieving. I believe the DORK graduated from St. Mary's College. :D

:yay: :yay:

We bought two Trek's from him last year. Told us to bring them back anytime for free adjustments.. mine is in need, but just can't find the time to bring it in.

He let us walk around, sit on and test ride as many bikes as we wanted, answered all our questions. He picked out a few bikes that he thought would fit our needs, and took them all out to the parking lot for us to try out. I had one or two that I picked out, and two he picked out.. I bought one of his choices, my choice was wrong in a LOT of ways.

I think we saved a bundle buying from him, and got much better quality than the crap they sell at the box stores.

SUPPORT YOU LOCAL BUSINESSES..

Big don't mean much most of the time...besides, I'm bigger. :killingme It's his dogs that I sometimes worry about, but so far they have proven to be very friendly. Intimidating, but friendly.

I bought my bike from Mike about 5 years ago and have not had major problems with it. The problem that I have is that when I take it in for service there is usually over a week long wait. I know that being busy is a sign of good work and good customer service, but I never see him working on the bikes...usually reading the news paper. At any rate, when I have left my bike with him, the work has been first rate. He does charge me for tune-ups even though I bought two bikes from him.
I bought my wifes bike from PAC. Yeah, they are a little stiff in the collar, but good guys from what I have witnessed. Tune-ups on my wifes bike are free for as long as we own it and I also took one of the bikes I got from Mike in to them for a last minute fix (mike would/could not do it in time for the ride I was in) and they did it for me with no problem, at no cost.

There is NO DOUBT that Mike is a great Mentor to the local kids. I see him/them in his parking lot all the time working on BMX stuff and I see them in his shop learning how to maintain their own bikes...by working on customers bikes. I think he is the dad that a lot of those kids don't have at home.
