Is there a new county/state bag law?

Went into a chain store in SMC, put my items on the counter, and the cashier informed me there was a 10 cent charge if I wanted a bag. It apparently started Feb 27. There was not a noticeable sign on the front door warning me I needed to bring my own bag. I get regular sale emails from the store chain and did not see anything about a store policy change, so I am guessing this is at the local/state level? Did I miss the first of many gifts from the dems?

Baltimore County council to vote on plastic bag ban

If passed, ban goes into effect November 1

TOWSON, Md. — Plastic bags could soon become a thing of the past for shoppers as they checkout at Baltimore County stores.

The Baltimore County council is scheduled to vote Monday on a plastic bag ban at stores and restaurants.

If it passes, the plastic bag ban won't happen overnight. Businesses will still be able to hand out plastic bags until this fall as it would't go into effect until November 1, 2023.

Petco. They used to have a giant sign on the door touting how they were keeping the lights off to save energy. You think they would now tout saving the planet by charging for bags. At least you would know to go back to your car and get a bag...
Not too long ago, during Covid, all the stores acted like you were trying to kill someone if you brought your own bags.

The one next to Ross and Old Navy? I was there on Sunday for two items. I didn't notice any signs and was asked at check out if I wanted a bag for .10¢ I was quite surprised and declined.

With lights off the are assuming unnecessary liabilities if all or parts of the buidling are too dark inside. Animals have good night vision. People, not so much. However, perhaps enough lights comes in the building through the windows.

Last time I tried to bring my own bags, was told I have to use self checkout to use my own bags.

Sure wish they'd make their minds up.

I wear a jacket with lots and lots of pockets. I fill up my pockets while shopping, empty them all at the check-out, then put them all back in my pockets and pay.

Why not take your pet in and let them eat in the aisle?

I need to find a place to sell me a body bag for my next trip.

Should be able o fit three or four big bags of dry food in it and make a hell of an impressing leaving the store.

Where was this?
One of the grocery stores in the county, can't recall which one. Was last fall, I have just been letting them give me their plastic bags since.

I only use self checkout if I have fewer than 5 items.

Giant here wouldn't let you use your own bags for quite awhile during the lockdown.
