Is there a new county/state bag law?

Last week, while my car was being serviced, I walked to Big Lots in PF and bought a few items. At checkout, the young lady informed me that they no longer offer plastic bags and if I wanted a bag, paper bags were available for $.10. As I was killing time and wanted to hit a couple more stores, I gave her the 10 cents.
I suppose it's not a bad thing to reduce plastic and any more, many of the bags are so flimsy (HELL-O, Giant!), if necessary I can use my own. The only downside is I have five house cats whose body functions get put in those grocery bags to be put in the garbage

When I was in Europe in 1983, the plastic bags were all the rage and I thought they were a bad idea. Fast forward about a year or so and they ended up here in the US.

And I agree about the cat thing. I raided my sisters bag-bag because I was almost out of my stockpile.

people were not cleaning the bags, they became a bio hazard
But if the bag had this

that was my same reaction  I don't mind bringing my own bags, but when they do away with them all...what will my poor cat do?

In NY (of all states!) they only charge $.05 for a paper bag. I have to wonder how the price is determined. If NY is getting by on $.05 is the extra $.05 MD is charging pure profit?

Goes to environmental programs/education but mostly the General Fund. Baltimore City the merchants keep 90%.
