The man in charge of hoodwinking the Western powers about Iran's now 18-year-old secret nuclear program believes the apocalypse will happen in his own lifetime.

Iran's dominant "Twelver" sect holds this will be Muhammad ibn Hasan, the righteous descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. He is said to have gone into "occlusion" in the 9th century, at age 5. His return will be preceded by cosmic chaos, war, bloodshed and pestilence. After this cataclysmic confrontation between the forces of good and evil, the Mahdi will lead the world to an era of universal peace.

As you were.

...was even a remote value in getting their attention I would have said "Bush threatens to help Iran blow up orphanage" and then provided the link. They'd have broken a nail getting there.

Iran is begging to get whacked.

Well, according to the Bible, the Apocalypse will center on the middle east with the last battle between mankind fought in the valley of Megido which is north of Jerusalem. It is rather large and flat. Good place for a big battle.
The valley is in the distance beyond the rubble.

The guy forgets about the nuclear option. That card will eventually be played again. The account of the Apocalypse seems to indicate the use of nuclear weapons and that oil and fuel will have run out since the warriors are on horseback. It also tells of the army of 200,000,000 (China?) (Rev 9:16). I guess that could be allegorical, but only time will tell.

Fvck! this is depressing. :frown:
What's the chance that we can trust Europe to take the lead on this while finish things up in Iraq. The equivalent of... "You go ahead, I'll meet you in a couple hours." :ohwell:

What's the chance? none. sadly.
We can bomb the hell out of them and (hopefully) set them back a few years, but our forces are stretched too thin for another ground war.

Is it possible that "horseback riders" were used because the writers couldn't imagine the mechanical vehicles we have today? That's what I'm thinking.

I don't even know if our soldiers still get trained to ride horses.

It would certainly be interesting if the Apocalyptic battle between good and evil culminates as a response to a cartoon.

I think seven years worth of the snowball-effect just about oughtta do it.

...we resumed the war with Iraq BECAUSE it was better to deal with them NOW than when you are SURE they have nukes and a massive Bio/cehm capability; Common sense. That's why the left is having a fit, they HATE common sense.

Was there ANY doubt that a nuclear armed Iraq would be a global
problem?

So, Iran. Is there ANY doubt that a nuclear armed Iran will be a global problem?

So, act now before it's real bad or wait until it's REAL BAD? These people are threatening the ENTIRE world.

Easier?

It will come. Iran is a given in my opinion. I think that North Korea is their ally, so South Korea, Japan, and maybe Hawaii and the West Coast get one or two nukes each. Then the fecal matter really hits the fan.

I'd be more worried about how China plays in this picture. The largest standing army in the world; don't awaken the sleeping dragon.

Yes ! Yes ! Yes !
Let's catapault ourselves into the apocolyptic war. TODAY!
We can continue to finance the war in Iraq and start another in Iran
So much for my tax cut that was spoken of during the SOTU.
Looks like this Muslim dude is excited to get the ball rolling on some blast' em off nuke war.
Some thing that always upset me about the Christian faith was: They look forward to the "end of times" and it appears the Islamic faith does also.
Slow down people.....the Jews haven't even gotten they're Messiah yet!!!

People don't train people to ride horses, horses train people to ride them.

If people never chose to get on a horse, the horse would never know how to 'ride' a human. Humans would, however, still know how to ride a horse because we're smarter than horses.

Horses in and of themselves don't have air conditioning, run off cliffs, die of of herd diseases that thin populations remoreslessly and, worst of all, get captured and broken by humans.

So WE can ride THEM.

Interesting you should mention a dragon.

Revelation 12:3Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems.
Now the dragon is the devil, but has also been representation of a nation or group of nations. Other representations of nations in the Bible are a bear (Russia), goat (Greece). An Old Testament account of the Apocalypse is in Daniel. Daniel 8 equates a goat to Greece.
Daniel 8:20-22

20"The ram which you saw with the two horns represents the kings of Media and Persia.

21"The shaggy goat represents the kingdom of Greece, and the large horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

22"The broken horn and the four horns that arose in its place represent four kingdoms which will arise from his nation, although not with his power."
There is more of the Apocalypse in Daniel, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Malachi, and some of the other prophetic books.

I guess one could go on to say China is 'devilish' in some ways, civil rights being one. All in how you perceive things; I'm also on U.S. soil and not Chinese.

The battle in Megido takes place after the depiction of what may be a nuke war. If you are not afraid of men on horseback, you are not familiar with the origin of the cavalry. The last battle depicts it as the armies of the world reduced to hand to hand combat. Men on horseback would be formidable in such a situation.
