I can't recall if someone has referenced this before - but I read an article that compared the moral authority in this war.
And the question was this - if Hamas had the military power and resources of Israel - what would they do with it? If Israel had the military capability to obliterate Gaza - what would they do with it?
Except that Israel ALREADY has the ability to flatten Hamas into oblivion - and they don't. Hamas and other similar groups have NEVER CEASED attacking, although most attacks don't make the news because it may consist of hurling small mortars into random areas - but they happen every day.

The reason Israel doesn’t make glass out of Gaza and ostensibly eliminate Hamas is simple: Netanyahu/Israel would lose the leverage to shake down the west for shekels.
Netanyahu has in fact strengthened Hamas by refusing to work with the Palestinian Authority, but rather with Hamas. Hamas are only the de facto government of Gaza. The PA has been unwavering in their condemnation of Hamas and their acts of “terror”.
Israel’s goal is to end the two state solution and they are — through colonialism and war, basically two sides of the same coin.

Just a cute and quotable embodiment of the fact that Netanyahu *needs* Hamas, as already stated. Without them, he has no leverage.
There are bad actors on both sides and there will be much, much, much more death. This is immutable fact.
Arguably, Hamas will emerge stronger from this. The more fierce the Israeli response, the more Palestinians die, and the more radicalized the survivors will be. And Netanyahu gets to continue his cycle.

I love to see it. We Americans are a uniquely propagandized people. Never before have I seen more people blaming the victim when it comes to the Palestinians. Like they asked for the world’s unwanted Jews to come flood into their country? The Palestinians are a warm, welcoming, hospitable people. So too did the Jews fleeing German persecution. They washed up on the shores of Palestine, often with only what they could carry or the clothes on their backs. They found refuge, warmth, food, shelter, clothing, and they were welcomed. But over time, those Jews started getting uppity. They started deciding “hey, this place is pretty nice. Let’s take it.”
Over the course of decades, from the 1930s through the 1948 war, Jews engaged in a systematic campaign of terrorist attacks, sabotage, ambushes, and other forms of mass murder. Their targets were Arabs, British soldiers and civilians, and even other Jews if they got in the way or opposed their agenda. Americans think Palestinians are the bad guys for not rolling over and submitting to colonial oppression. The irony isn’t lost on me, being the Nation that rebelled against the King and fought for its independence … and yet when the Palestinians do it, they’re demonized as “terrorists.”
I don’t remember who said it, but I agree with the statement that “terrorism is the war of the poor; war is the terrorism of the rich.”
The Israelis are only tough when they’re kicking around unarmed farmers, pregnant women, and children. When they have to fight a foe that can fight back, they get their asses kicked, every time.
