It is that dreaded time of year again

I so detest those school fundraisers. My oldest went to Greenview Knolls which did not do them. Then once at Park Hall and Spring Ridge and now Great Mills it is sell sell sell. I had a fit about that blessed money machine and even worse was that if you were a top seller you got to go to lunch at Pizza Hut in a Limo. Ha to that. I informed the school that I would gladly write out a check once a year if they promised to take their catalog of worthless junk and stick it. The next year the PTA put out a letter stating that any parent that did not want to participate could fork over fifty bucks instead. I take great issue with schools encouraging my child to become a salesperson through bribary. That is supposed to be my job.
Gotta wonder about the fattening of America's children too. The schools get money from Coke, Pepsi, and the snack machine vendors for having them in the school.

Better yet, more than any other politics, I hate the effin' school board. I don't know about elsewhere (I'm sure its the same) but this board sucks ass! If I ever get anywhere that's what I'm hitting first and foremost. :burning:lol

I got hit with the Boy Scouts yesterday, selling popcorn. I bought some chocolate popcorn stuff at $16. Was not too happy about it as we had just gotten back from the OBX and was trying to do laundry, etc. Then I said I would pay cash and they wanted a check. Not even going to eat the popcorn - gonna give it to the boy.......this is just the start. None of these people were in my neighborhood when my son was selling wrapping paper, but figure it's my civic duty. Not a good time to be selling stuff when I just gave a good donation to the Red Cross. I'm not answering the door again. I am not, however, NOT going to buy anything from the schools. I know how they spend their $. The best of everything in their administrative offices...

I went dumpster digging the last day of school this past year, of course, with permission.

I have many clients who live way out in the sticks and have very few/if ANY books because they are poor.

You would be surprised the mass amounts of books and other items I found and in nearly new condition. It was sad, very sad to see the waste, but I only got books, since that was all I was authorized to get.

After seeing what I saw tossed in the dumpster, I thought about NOT participating in any more school fundraisers.

My daughter goes to LES. Our PTA dumps lots of money back into the kids during different events and such. I don't mind participating in fund raisers, but I also don't mind telling my daughter she is not going to hit the "limo ride" quota and she is not going to pester other folks that aren't interesting in what she is selling. I love LES.
