Itinerary for Spring/Summer 2017

New Hampshire/Franconia Notch area is nice. In the summer you can take the tram up Cannon Mountain and hike back down again. Great camping areas.

I like Maine very much, Bah Habaa and all, but it's very over-touristed these days. When I was younger my folks would borrow a friend's cabin on Long Pond. What a fantastic place and memory. If I were to go up again it would be in the fall, after Labor Day.

I miss the summer's up there but they have gotten over crowded in the summer. Most of my family has moved to FL but my father still lives in MA. I want to go after Labor but I know I will freeze to death since I have adjusted to it beating as hot as the surface as sun in FL during the summer.

I need some Mystic Pizza :yay:

Don't have your hopes set too high! It's just a normal pizza joint. You're going to walk in and be like.....this place inspired a movie....with JULIA ROBERTS?! regardless, the cute little town of Mystic is still a must. We only ever go to S&P Oyster (little fancy but ah-mazing) bc it's the only place my grandmother will let us take her out to eat (old people and their ways ) but if you're looking for a no frills lobstah roll join (split-top bun, hot, stuffed, and smothered in buttah), look for Abbotts Lobster in the Rough, it's been on every top 5/10/20 lobster roll list in CT/New England/the states  Just a nice outside large shack on the water with seating. Plus it's a gorgeous super scenic 10-min drive from downtown Mystic. Because FYI Maine and Mass aren't the only pro's at lobster!

If you're looking for another pretty scenic drive that ends with amazing local food, you can also try Buttonwoods Ice cream. It's up past North Stonington and the casino, so maybe 20-25 mins from Mystic. It's past our family's places and the family-run farm and creamery has been going for a couple decades now with gorgeous farm views and cows so close they try to sample your cones :yum: worth the line EVERY. TIME. Late summer and Fall their field of sunflowers across the street bloom and its just too much to take in sometimes!

Thanks for the tips! We are shack-eaters, so the lobster roll place is right up our alley.

On RT 1 going up past Bath you will hit a town called Wiscasset and next to the RR tracks is a shack called Red's Eats. Pretty good. Better is a place on the right hand side called Sea Basket as you come into town. It is the absolute best.
